Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Wellness and Program Director is responsible for the management of all Wellness, Fitness, Sports, and Recreational programs at the Monett Area YMCA.
Guided by the mission of the Ozark Regional YMCA, the Health and Wellness Director is responsible for the administration and coordination of the Monett Area YMCA's wellness, sports, and recreation programs to include development, implementation, promotion, and analysis of programs offered.

This is a full-time, supervisory, exempt position that requires flexible availability; intermittent nights and weekends to support programming.
Job-Specific Functions:

  • Develop, promote, administer, and lead in the development and implementation of all recreation, sports, and wellness programs.
  • Expand the enrollment and support of existing programs and develop new, innovative programs that meet the needs of our community.
  • Organize wellness, sports, and recreation events and represent the Y at community events.
  • Celebrate and promote diversity in all areas; the Y is open to all.
  • Responsible for recruiting, hiring, training, coaching, and directing staff and volunteers.
  • Manage and supervise all aspects of the wellness, sports, and recreation departments.
  • Actively participate in planning the annual budget; manage and implement the approved budget and take appropriate action to correct variances.
  • Assess and mitigate risk in every aspect of the Y programs.
  • Make wellness and recreation calendars, schedules, and rosters.
  • Coordinate locations for wellness, sports, recreation, and other programs by building community relations.
  • Possess leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with staff, and establish a rapport with parents, children, and members.
  • Must have the ability to cultivate youth and adult volunteer leadership and work with diverse individuals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education: BS or BA in Physical Education, Recreation, Exercise Science, or transferrable experience in a related field preferred.
Experience: Previous experience working with wellness, sports, and recreation programs, personal training, and managing staff preferred. Certification in personal training and fitness is a plus.
Criminal background check and Motor Vehicle Report clearance required prior to final job offer.

  • Auditory and verbal abilities to give, receive and follow general instructions to ensure the safety and well-being of all members/participants.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time while demonstrating physical stamina and agility to quickly reach a member/participant or situation to prevent harm.
  • Ability to lift to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to drive or access transportation.

  • Annual Support Campaign – Provide support for the annual campaign and other special events when possible and as directed.
  • Risk Management – Remain familiar with risk management procedures in the YMCA facility, which include but are not limited to current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, child abuse prevention, and understanding specific responsibilities during fire, hurricane, tornado, or other emergency situations.
