Westborough EDP Assistants (6051) Job at Westborough Public School
Position Description:
The Extended Day Program Assistant is responsible to the Extended Day Program Site Coordinator. Assistants are expected to help the Program Site Coordinator with the management of the children and the implementation of the Coordinator’s plans. In addition, Assistants will be required to work all Early Release Day Programs, Vacation Day Programs, and Professional Day Programs, when the Program falls on their regularly scheduled days.
Responsibilities:
Ø Arrive promptly to your site and to monthly meetings.
Ø Be vigilant about the safety of the children in the Extended Day Program.
Ø Know the rules of the Extended Day Program and take on an active role in seeing that they are followed. (Rules specific to EDP Assistants: No cell phone use unless contacting parent Cell phones should be out of sight. Also no socializing with other EDP Assistants during program hours.)
Ø Be mindful of the fact that each child is an individual and should be approached as such.
Ø Develop positive relationships with the children and be a positive role model for them.
Ø Assist the Program Site Coordinator with daily planned activities (arts & crafts, science, sports, etc.).
Ø Spontaneously engage children in activities like board games, card games, puzzles, etc.
Ø Circulate during homework time to make sure students are on task and to offer assistance when necessary.
Ø Use equipment and supplies conscientiously.
Ø Maintain a clean and orderly environment.
Ø Develop positive relationships with parents, program staff and school staff when possible.
Ø Turn in a weekly Time Sheet every Wednesday. If time sheets are not received by Wednesday at 2:00 pm, hours for the week will not be submitted to payroll until the following week.
Ø Attend monthly meeting with the Extended Day Program Assistant Coordinator.
Ø Perform related duties as assigned by the Program Site Coordinator.
Qualifications:
Ø Be at least 14 years of age.
Ø Previous experience working with children ages 5-12 is required (e.g. coaching, babysitting, camp counselor, etc.)
