The Wireless Solutions Engineer will analyze customer problems and engineer working real world solutions. The ideal candidate will be self-directed, possess technical leadership, and listens actively to understand customer needs & concerns. They will be working closely with the Sales, Product Development & Operations Teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with Product and Account Management teams to implement complex solutions to meet mobile network operator and enterprise customer needs in supporting public cellular networks as well as private cellular networks.
• Participate in network planning and engineering, network architecture design, equipment acquisition, installation, implementation, configuration, and support of network deployment plans. Including the identification & evaluation of hardware, software & other components.
• Provide technical support to customers through remote and on-site troubleshooting LTE / 5G Wireless networks within a lab environment and support field trials and commercial deployments.
• In addition to working with other CTS network solutions, the ideal candidate will become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on CTS’s Total Traffic Manager (TTM), a deep packet inspection platform used for policy management in both public and private cellular networks.
• Use your skills in working with deep packet inspection products to deploy policy management platforms, develop policies using both proprietary and open source tools to analyze network traffic data.
• Take the lead role in engineering new or additional configurations of policy management solutions. Implement new applications including new rules and policies, interfacing to external systems, and/or making routing and traffic flow recommendations.
• Work with Account Management, Technical Services, and Data Center Operations organizations as appropriate to integrate new customers.
• Maintain and contribute to system documentation.
• Be available to participate in mobile core network operations, including regular maintenance, upgrades, unplanned outages, incident response, security, compliance, and performance improvement.

Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience working with one or more network policy management systems from vendors such as Sandvine, Procera, Allot, F5, Arbor Networks, Vivio Networks, and Blue Coat Systems
• Preferably knowledge and experience in working with 3GPP PCRFs from a major vendor such as Ericsson, Nokia, or Cisco.
• Hands-on experience developing scripts to solve problems using languages such as Perl, Python, PHP, etc.
• Experience designing networks and configuring network equipment such as routers, switches, and load balancers. Knowledge of and experience with wireless IP routing platforms, such as Mikrotik and Cisco.
• Expertise analyzing log data using command line tools correlating events across sources.
• In depth understanding of Internet protocols including RADIUS, HTTP, SMTP, streaming protocols, and SSH. Knowledge of various application transport and network infrastructure protocols, including IPv4, IPv6, OSPF, BGP, iBGP, MPLS, VPLS, PPPoE, IPoE and VPNs.
• In depth understanding of 3GPP network architecture and the interfaces between network components. Knowledge of wireless network architecture, ORAN, NFV, Cloud/Edge Computing is preferred.
• Working knowledge of cellular RF concepts.
• Demonstrated proficiency in IP data networking and configurations and TCP/IP networking (basic routing, analyzing network captures, etc.).
• Linux system administration, preferably RedHat, with specific experience configuring IPtables, SELinux, Apache, Squid, and mailers such as sendmail or Exim.
• Experience with SQL, report generation, and other database-oriented activities strongly preferred.
• Experience in working for a wireless carrier, wide-area data networking company, or Internet service provider in managing and deploying wireless network solutions is preferred.
• Proven ability to communicate technical and production-related concepts to technical and non-technical persons through both oral and written means.
• Ability to follow project schedules using tools such as Gantt charts and task lists.
• Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for designing and planning wireless communication systems.
• Strong knowledge on testing process, test strategy and test plans.
• Knowledge of IoT network and technologies desirable (NBIoT, LoRaWan, LTE-M, etc.)
• The ability to thrive in a start-up environment, ability to quickly grasp and adapt to new technologies and concepts.

Education

• 4 Year Technical Degree (Example: BSCS, BSEE, etc.) or equivalent workplace experience.

• Ability to travel on an “as needed” basis is required.
