Job Description Summary:

The Workers’ Compensation Claims Supervisor is responsible for the oversight and monitoring of the administrative and technical areas of 5-7 adjusters with a pending of 900-1300 claims. This position interfaces with case management and clients as appropriate; provides leadership of day-to-day activities; and supports the staffing, training, and overall management of the WC team. The WC Supervisor will be responsible for the oversight of the prompt, and efficient evaluation, investigation, and resolution of clients’ claims, in accordance with legal statutes, policy provisions, and company guidelines.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Providing technical and jurisdictional direction and ongoing guidance to claims analysts through routine quality reviews on claims in compliance with audit requirements, client handling instructions, and best practices.
  • Ensuring timely, accurate documentation of claim activity in the unit.
  • Providing backup, diary completion, and other term-related oversight.
  • Participating in the interviewing and hiring process, training, coaching, and mentoring unit team members.
  • Monitoring claims analysts’ workloads ensuring compliance with service standards based upon experience and/or claim type; reporting observations and recommending remedial action as needed.
  • Ensuring appropriate case reserves consistent with company guidelines.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of jurisdictional requirements and applicable case law for each state serviced.
  • Maintaining and promoting client relationships; resolving service issues; providing recommendations to clients as suggested by the claim status; and providing written reports of specific claims as requested by clients.
  • Monitoring reports for all clients to achieve goals of claims’ closing ratios of about 104%; achieving 100% timely excess reporting and mitigating paid and incurred costs.
  • Participating in monthly client safety and stewardship meetings.
  • Promoting effective communication among and between work groups, and between management and employees.
  • Demonstrating commitment to the company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and Best Practices; applying knowledge of compliance policies and procedures, standards, and laws applicable to job responsibilities in the performance of work.
  • Providing support, guidance, leadership, and motivation to promote the maximum performance of claims analysts.
  • Completing all other tasks and projects as assigned by supervisor(s).

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or more preferred related industry required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3+ years of workers' compensation claims supervisory experience required
  • New Jersey workers’ compensation experience a plus
  • Public entity and experience a plus
  • Detail-oriented and strong customer service skills
  • Proficient in the use of the internet and Microsoft Office and capable of learning industry-specific software
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communications skills
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, analytical, investigative, and negotiation skills
  • As required, maintains insurance adjuster licenses

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
