The individual hired as the Full-Time Worksite Operations Coordinator
will be working with both the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) and Work, Learn & Grow (WLG) Program. These programs provide participants who are between the ages of 14-24 with career readiness training and paid employment opportunities during the school year and throughout the summer.


Program Overview:

The purposes of WLG and SYEP are to provide New York City youth with year-round employment and educational experiences that build on their individual strengths and incorporate youth development principles. These principles include engaging the talents and interests of youth, developing their skills and competencies, and providing positive adult role models.

The Worksite Operations Coordinator will be, first and foremost, highly self-motivated to find exciting job opportunities for our youth participants in a wide range of industry sectors. The Worksite Operations Coordinator will lead their team with empathy and accountability, ensuring that a collaborative environment is established that promotes open dialogue, constructive feedback and the constant flowing of ideas and innovation in the way we think about worksite development. Last but not least, this dynamic professional won’t be shy to try new things, take some risks and seek to constantly raise the ceiling of our program’s quality, while ensuring our quantitative goals are always met.


Goals and objectives:

  • To provide a valuable work experience at job sites that are safe and well supervised
  • To assist youth in identifying their career interests through exposure to different industries, occupations, educational pathways, and the requirements for success in each of them
  • To enable youth to acquire positive work habits and develop employment‐related skills
  • To facilitate the long‐term employment and self‐sufficiency of youth
  • To enable youth to develop a greater understanding of higher education and career options available to them
  • To enable youth to develop financial literacy and other competencies that will prepare them to succeed in their transition to adulthood


Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain external collaborations with individuals and businesses to develop employment opportunities for young adults.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with staff, youth, parents, and partners
  • Oversees all worksite development for all SYEP contracts Career Ready SYEP, Community Based SYEP, Emerging Leaders SYEP, Work Learn Grow and additional programs such as ACS, if necessary)
  • Support and liaise with other division-wide and/or agency-wide programs to collaborate and share resources (i.e. - Opportunity Youth Programs)
  • Supervises FT and PT worksite development staff to ensure delivery of successful program execution, including planning and continuous performance feedback
  • Supervises all PT worksite monitors and ensures daily tasks are completed during programmatic season.
  • Manages programming worksite tracker including data input, inventory of employment, training, and internship opportunities, and providing weekly updates to supervisor
  • Responsible for organizing all worksite related administrative needs with the support of specialist and monitors- this includes more precise storage and tracking of paper documents over the summer
  • Responsible for working with Job Developer, CR Director and Coordinators to maximize worksite opportunities within CR schools are available
  • Management of employer relationships and conducting site visit off-season
  • Oversee quality assessment process by collecting data from employers related to job orders, including job requirements and skills; match job skills with applicant qualifications; refer qualified applicants to employers, and conducts necessary follow-up when applicants are placed in positions
  • Monitor participant performance on the job and counsel participants when job performance is not satisfactory; works with participants to improve job performance and gain necessary job skills or reviews other employment options
  • Maintain contact with employers during participants' employment and report results to appropriate staff; prepare forms and reports related to placement activities; track participant activity and progress through data
  • Attend supervision and staff meetings
  • Willingness to travel and visit sites for partnership development


Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, minimum of two years, preferred, in a Youth Employment or Youth Development position which was successful
  • Familiarly with DYCD funded Youth Employment programs including SYEP and WLG.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, networking, and transactional skills.
  • Strong interest in Youth Development/Youth Employment
  • Outcome driven with ability to respond to changing circumstances and priorities.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency through familiarity in working with people from very diverse backgrounds.
  • Methods and techniques of job development and participant placement
  • Ability to plan strategically, think critically and problem solve creatively.
  • Experience working with career counseling consumers in a high volume work environment, particularly in human services or workforce development.
  • Computer literate, including experience with all Microsoft Office software packages, local area networks, and the Internet.


Hours:
Full-Time, 8-4, 9-5 or 10-6, Monday through Friday
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: 55K-65K
