Schedule: Sun - Thurs, 5:00pm - 1:30am or Tues - Sat, 5:00pm - 1:30am

Summary:

  • Continuously assessing, responding, engaging and supervising of TSCF clients. The goal is to focus attention and intentional, visual observation of clients which will prevent and minimize accidents and injuries.
  • Responding to emergency situations where clients are in crisis to de-escalate the situation and ensure the safety and health of clients and Five Acres staff.
  • Implementing treatment techniques designed to resolve behavioral and related issues.

Essential Duties:

  • Continually monitor for the behavioral and safety needs of clients. Support staff with behavioral modification techniques/interventions
  • Provides therapeutic services to clients as measured by supervision and direct observation.
  • Monitors and intervenes in child crisis situations to ensure the safety of children and staff; uses physical restraint only when absolutely necessary, assesses situations and determines initial safety and risk evaluations; implements de-escalation and stabilization only in accordance with methods and techniques approved by the agency.
  • Coordinates interventions with clients’ treatment team, service plans and utilizes treatment techniques and interventions to assist clients, families and significant others in achieving goals.
  • Manages the behavior of residents through the use of approved behavioral management techniques/interventions; ensures compliances with agency policies.
  • Completes rounds according to established schedule, document accordingly (i.e., logs), monitors and follows up toward timely resolution of any identified problems. Communicates, reports and documents unstable behaviors and interventions to supervisor and team in a timely manner.
  • Participates in identifying clients’ needs and triggers (within a strength based and family centered model) to escalation and barriers; makes recommendations for action to supervisors and treatment team; participates in team/staff conferences as needed regarding solutions to TSCF clients' barriers.
  • Provide supervision, counseling, and direct care for children/youth living in the group home setting, serving as a surrogate parent, to teach values, life skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • Establishes and maintains rapport and effective working relationships with child(ren), DCFS, and community; works effectively within the Agency and community at large.
  • Maintains knowledge of program standards and policies as developed by Five Acres, COA, Community Care Licensing and other governing bodies.
  • Incorporates Agency philosophy and mission in all aspects of job description and follows established practices, policies and procedures to achieve compliance with Agency expectations and professional standards.
  • Attends and participates in department staff, supervision and support meetings, in-service programs and Agency meetings as appropriate.

Qualifications:To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have:

  • High School Diploma plus three (3) years of paid experience, required. Bachelor’s degree plus two (2) years' full-time paid experience preferred.
  • Previous employment experience working directly with children, adolescents, and/or young adults in a behavioral health, school, social services, or other equivalent setting.
  • Some work experience in social services, working with severely emotionally disturbed children and their families.
  • Effective oral/written communication skills; bi-lingual skills in Spanish/English preferred
  • Ability to be flexible and work in a changing environment
  • Ability to pass and utilize the Pro Act physical restraint system
  • Must have a valid California Driver License, proof of automobile insurance and meet the Agency’s safe driver guidelines.
  • Ability to maintain First Aid/CPR Certification
  • Ability to work varied hours

Compensation Range: $21.48/hr - $29.00/hr
