The students of the Mississippi Achievement School District (mASD) need your talent, expertise, passion and leadership.


We are seeking highly motivated and innovative practitioners to join our team at the mASD. We seek individuals who are radically relentless about re-envisioning the landscape of public education in Mississippi and making a significant difference in the lives of students, parents, school leaders, teachers, and central office employees.

Currently the mASD serves approximately 4100 students in Yazoo City and Humphreys County in the Mississippi Delta. As part of the state’s comprehensive transformation effort, the mASD seeks to become the model for sustainable school and district improvement in areas of the state that have experienced chronic and entrenched underperformance. Over time, the mASD intends to develop the highest-performing, competitively compensated, and most revered educator workforce in the state known for providing instructional excellence and producing significant outcomes for ALL students.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Performs a variety of clerical and support work involving both specific routines and broadly defined policies and procedures; greets and interacts with the public; works cooperatively with staff, students, and parents, and performs other related duties as assigned.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists in accounting for daily period-by-period attendance of students; processing and verifying student absence information from parents and teachers; issuing excuses to students for absence from class; issuing admission slips for students returning to assure absentee reporting.
  • Assists in entering attendance, data enrollment and change of status information into computer, verifying absences for each period in a secondary school setting.
  • Communicates as assigned with students, parents, faculty , administrators and authorities regarding attendance, truancy and suspension.
  • Makes and receives phone calls and notes regarding student absences; Receives and relays messages to students and parents as necessary; Receives phone calls from concerned parents.
  • Provides student attendance information to staff, parents, and authorities as requested; maintains communication with faculty regarding field trips, athletic events, special programs and other special events to properly account for attendance.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate records of student attendance: receiving absence information from teachers by means of student aides; providing work direction to student aides as assigned.
  • Assists in preparation and maintenance of a variety of records and reports regarding student attendance, tardiness, truancy, suspension and discipline.
  • Assists students, staff and visitors in front office as necessary.
  • Refers serious attendance problems according to established procedures.
  • Provides clerical assistance to administrators and other staff as required, types of correspondence, list and notices.
  • Operates a variety of office equipment.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of district attendance policies, procedures, terminology, and accounting methods.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School graduate.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Experience in secretarial, bookkeeping, and record keeping procedures.
  • Ability to operate a computer and enter data.
