Job Summary: IsoNova Team Leaders are responsible for meeting or exceeding safety, quality and production targets for their assigned shift. Successful candidates are natural problem solvers, demonstrate an excellent balance between people leadership and operational/technical know-how, and consistently find ways to improve the operation through staffing, equipment, or process changes. Team Leaders are expected to model behaviors required of all IsoNova team members; their words and actions are congruent with IsoNova policies, procedures and guidelines. The Team Leader will direct production, sanitation and minor maintenance tasks. This is a working team leader position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides team leadership and coaching.
  • Leads by example. Strictly follows all safety procedures and uses all required personal protective equipment.
  • Trains and develops associates on safety, quality, equipment, and sanitation operations.
  • Knowledgeable of both applicable policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws, as they apply to assigned team tasks; monitors associate tasks and activities to ensure compliance
  • Facilitates problem solving and collaboration between associates on assigned shift, as well as shift to shift and with support personnel
  • Creates an environment oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking, and cohesive team effort
  • Completes associate accountability tasks such as corrective actions, time approval, and associate evaluations.
  • Focuses the team on the task at hand, ensuring shift goals are achieved and positioning plant for future success.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of all production and sanitation processes. Is capable of operating all pieces of equipment and backing up all operators.
  • Gives direction, and redirects work as required, to align activities and behaviors towards goal attainment. Must be able to follow, as well as give, direction. Intervenes, when necessary, to support timely completion and uninterrupted flow of operations.
  • Assigns non-urgent tasks when free time is available (pump rebuilds, sanitation, etc.); follows up with associates to ensure tasks are completed on time and to standard.
  • Provides necessary business information required for shift success (order attainment needs, unload needs, upcoming shut down information, etc.)
  • Coordinates team logistics.
  • Works with plant leadership team and on-shift support personnel to obtain necessary resources to support the team's requirements.
  • Submits maintenance work requests.
  • Coordinates meeting times, places and agendas.
  • Obtains the tools required for team members to safely complete assigned tasks.
  • Participate in and lead improvement initiatives. Ensure team members are scheduled to attend improvement initiatives, which may be scheduled during off cycle days.
  • Communicates team status, accomplishment and direction.
  • Leads pre shift meetings. Participates in daily direction setting meetings with management and team associates. Provides status reporting of team accomplishments against key performance targets.
  • Serves as the focal point to communicate and resolve issues with other teams or support personnel. Escalates issues that cannot be resolved by the team.
  • Provides guidance to the team based on management direction.
  • Maintains proper and accurate documentation. Turns in documentation in timely fashion (ex. Production reports, safety reports). Ensure team members have completed documentation accurately and to standard.
  • Recognizes and celebrates team and team member accomplishments and exceptional performance via formal and informal recognition methods.
  • All Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Must have the ability to learn all the functions and processes required to be a Team Leader. Experience in the food manufacturing operations preferred. Experience in loading trucks and forklift certified, preferred.
  • High School Diploma required, Associates or Bachelors Degree in technical discipline preferred. Applicable work history or Military experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
  • Requires initiative, honesty, and integrity.
  • Must work well with people and have respect of peers, subordinates and upper management.
  • Must have the ability to think and draw natural conclusions.
  • Must have the ability to adapt to changing situations.
  • Must have excellent work record, high standards and a positive attitude.
  • Must have a clean, neat appearance; Conducts self in a professional courteous manner.
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have some knowledge of computers or be capable of learning PC applications, such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds, work in hot/cold environment, work at heights, safely dispense and handle sanitation chemicals, climb stairs, squat, and other physical demands as deemed necessary for task completion.
