If you are an able-bodied person who can drive a cargo van and/or a box truck, transport 40-50 pounds of food in bins up and down a flight of stairs several times a day without a strain, this may be the perfect job for you!

We are a flourishing non-profit based in Montgomery Village, MD. Throughout the week, we deliver non-perishable weekend meal bags to 32 Montgomery County schools. The school personnel then distributes these meals to the students on Fridays.

We are seeking 3 able-bodied drivers/warehouse workers (who also have experience driving a cargo van and/or box truck, and who also are available between the hours of 8 am and 6 pm. This will be for a 30 plus hour work week!

Although you will primarily be working in our food warehouse, helping to prepare non-perishable meals for children, we will need you to safely drive our company vehicles to pick up and drop off food. Therefore, if you have a valid driver's license and experience with driving a cargo van and/or box truck, this is a PLUS!

Also, we are looking for someone who generally has a good sense of direction and who can navigate GPS devices with proficiency.

AGAIN, PLEASE NOTE - YOU MUST BE ABLE-BODIED AND ABLE TO LIFT AND CARRY BINS AND FOOD THAT WEIGH BETWEEN 40 and 50 POUNDS CONSISTENTLY DOWN A FLIGHT OF STAIRS, ABOUT 50 BINS EACH TIME YOU BEGIN THE TASK OF LOADING THE VEHICLES.

You will work at least 30 hours weekly..

The candidate must have a clean, valid driver's license - to transport food to our low-income families and children in Montgomery County when not working in the warehouse.

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to follow instructions.

The candidate will also work in the food facility when not driving, doing all the aspects included in preparing the non-perishable food sacks.

Minimum requirements:

The ability to practice quality-assurance handling of our food products and to be gentle with them to avoid leakages and denting of cans, etc.

Also, you must have a clean driver record - must present proof of same Valid driver's license and at least 3 years driving experience

Experience with driving a cargo van at least 3 years. Experience driving a box truck is a plus! Excellent driving record - must present current proof of same

High School or equivalent diploma Great organizational and communication skills Pass a criminal background check Basic knowledge of local area roads and proficiency with navigation systems Ability to pass a drug test. Able to lift and consistently carry at least 30 pounds of food up and down stairs without a struggle

Desired candidate should be at least 21 years of age and able to start immediately

This is a part-time position of at least 30 hours a week. Starting salary is $19 an hour, based on your experience while training and then there is eligibility for a raise, both at the 30-day mark and the 90-day mark.

This position can also lead to a full-time Food Service Manager/Driver position which pays at least $25 an hour.
