Accounting Analyst

Department: Accounting

Reports to: Director of Finance & Accounting

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Position Overview:

Under the supervision of the Director of Finance & Accounting, provide collaborative support to the finance and accounting department relating to financial accounting, budgeting and reporting in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Essential Job Functions:

• Provide analytical, forecasting, reporting and project support to senior management
• Produce monthly reports which include key metrics, financial results and variance reporting
• Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and root cause any variances
• Document business processes, identify controls and deficiencies
• Recommend opportunities for performance improvement across the organization
• Assist with the annual forecasting process
• Assist with the monthly close and year-end audit process
• File monthly sales & use tax for all tax jurisdictions
• Keep abreast of matters related to new legislation, concepts and trends relevant to the field of accounting
• Serve as back-up to other members of the finance and accounting team

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting or related field; CPA a plus
• 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in financial accounting, budget preparation and financial reporting and analysis
• Strong command of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills
• Attention to accuracy and detail required
