Work Environment: The position primarily works in an office environment in the fire station.
Summary:
Perform a variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative tasks and provide administrative support to the Fire Chief, command staff, and the Fire Marshal; and assist in the daily administration of the department through contact with the career and volunteer staff and employees of the Township, and the general public
Essential Functions
- Provide clerical and administrative support to the Fire Chief, and other command staff officers; compile data, prepare reports, type correspondence, bulletins, and letters; update and file records.
- Provide clerical and administrative support to the Fire Marshal’s office; compile data, schedule fire inspections, coordinate invoicing/billing for fire inspections.
- Respond to customer inquiries in person or on phone.
- Compile operational statistics and prepare summary reports; perform data entry into Emergency Reporting software program.
- Schedule public education programs; maintain inventory of supplies and replenish stock as needed; interact with general public; schedule on-duty crews to perform programs.
- Assist with review and coordination of payroll with Human Resources department
- Prepare accounts payable and receivable documents, prepare copies and submit to Finance Office.
- Assist with use of social media and web platforms
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned
Other Functions
- Thorough knowledge of office practices and procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of or ability to learn programs, services and operations, relevant to the Fire Rescue service
Physical Requirements
- Able to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time and intermittently.
- Dexterity is mandatory as this job requires frequent use of hands and fingers.
- Ability to complete keyboard entry for extended periods of time.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms, push items overhead, occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Ability to talk, hear, and see.
- Occasional lifting of up to 15 lbs.
- Ability to operate office equipment including computer and periphery equipment, copier, facsimile machine.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.

- Able to deliver both face-to-face and over the phone customer service.
- Can handle sensitive information in a confidential environment.
- Ability to use computer software including Microsoft Office.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $21.80 per hour
