Addictions Specialist 1, 2, or 3 for Adult Treatment Team

Alcohol & Drug Department (Classification 711, 712, 713)

SEIU Represented Full Time (37.5 hours/week) position


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


This position will have a priority and emphasis on outreach to the community for the purpose of engaging individuals
in seeking supports for their opiate and other substance use. Efforts may often be in partnership with other programs
within the Health Department when providing this outreach support and with other community partners. Tasks will
focus on engagement strategies to help individuals recognize the benefit of seeking assistance with their substance use
and other areas of concern in their lives. This position will be for the entirety of Linn County and flexibility in day-to-day
scheduling is important for this outreach position.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Addictions Specialist 1:
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field is required. Professional or supervised
practicum-level experience of at least one year in providing addiction treatment is required. Any satisfactory equivalent
combination of experience, education and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the work described may
be acceptable. Classification as an Addictions Specialist 1, in addition to the requirements listed in the Experience,
Education and Training Section above requires (for clinical positions) Oregon certification as a Certified Alcohol &
Drug Counselor – Level One. Exceptions to this can be made for otherwise qualified candidates, with more than the
minimum professional experience, who register for certification and demonstrate the ability to be successfully
certified within two years of starting employment.

Addictions Specialist 2:
Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field is required. Three years professional or
supervised practicum-level experience (pre- or post-Master’s degree) in providing addiction treatment services (for
clinical positions) or in providing prevention services (for prevention positions) is required. Any satisfactory equivalent
combination of experience, education and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the work described may
be acceptable, including a Bachelor’s degree with five years’ experience in addiction treatment (for clinical positions) or
in prevention (for prevention positions). Classification as an Addictions Specialist 2, in addition to the requirements
listed in the Experience, Education and Training Section above requires (for clinical positions) Oregon certification as
a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor - Level One for clinicians with a Master’s degree or a Certified Alcohol and
Drug Counselor – Level Two for clinicians with a Bachelor’s degree.




Addictions Specialist 3:

Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field is required. Two years post-Master’s Degree

supervised experience in a similar position, and four years supervised experience (pre- or post-Master’s degree) in
addiction treatment. Classification as an Addictions Specialist 3, in addition to the requirements listed in the
Experience, Education and Training Section above requires Oregon licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor
or a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Licenses Clinical Social Worker, or certification as a Certified Alcohol and
Drug Counselor - Level Two.
