Job Description
International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) has an exciting opportunity for an Analytical Specialist at the METHOCEL™ plant in Plaquemine, Louisiana. Plaquemine METHOCEL™ is part of the Pharma Solutions business unit of International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF). The Analytical Specialist role supports the production of cellulose derivatives and research on existing and new pharmaceutical excipients.
This role provides analytical technical expertise, implements most effective technology, and improves analytical system performance and reliability. We are looking for an Analytical Chemist, who will assist in the development and implementation of valid test methods and support the performance of complex analyses in the laboratory. In this role, close cooperation within the Polymer Characterization group and across departments with research and development, quality assurance, and production is essential. The Plaquemine laboratory uses techniques such as wet chemical analysis, viscosity, chromatographic methods, FTIR and XRF.
Job Requirements
- Provide analytical and process chemistry expertise to resolve process, product, and analytical problems
- Provide the analytical technical link to the Plaquemine METHOCEL plant
- Screen complicated service requests for value and alignment with goals
- Route analytical requests to the appropriate service provider
- Perform complex analyses and interpret and report analytical data
- Provide expertise for troubleshooting and repairing analytical instruments
- Implement laboratory improvements
- Implement Most Effective analytical technology and methodology
- Validate and qualify new equipment and methods
- Anticipate analytical and product quality problems and address proactively
- Monitor and improve analytical system performance and capability
- Optimize Sample Plans to meet production needs
- Continuously improve and leverage analytical best practices
- Lead root cause investigations related to analytical problems
- Train others on analytical systems and technology
- Network with other technical personnel to stay current with analytical technologies and leverage technical solutions
Job Requirements
- Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in Chemistry or a related field
