Description:

Golden Queen Mining Co., LLC (the “Company”) operates a gold and silver, open pit, heap leach operation on its Soledad Mountain property, located just outside the town of Mojave in Kern County in southern California. The Project uses conventional open pit mining methods and the cyanide heap leach and Merrill-Crowe processes to recover gold and silver from crushed, agglomerated ore.

The Company is seeking an Assay Laboratory Supervisor for its Soledad Mountain Project (the “Project”) in Mojave. The Assay Laboratory Supervisor will be responsible for managing the day to day laboratory functions. This position reports directly to the Chief Metallurgist. This is considered a safety sensitive position.

Major Responsibilities

  • Accountable for day to day operation of activities at a gold/silver mine assay laboratory, including sample preparation, fire assay and wet laboratory;
  • Supervise the work of laboratory personnel engaged in performing routine and specialized technical procedures;
  • Plan and coordinate daily work assignments to support testing of samples from mining, crushing and screening and processing;
  • Be responsible for quality assurance and quality control to ensure reliable, consistent and reproducible results;
  • Prepare technical reports with interpretation of the data results from the laboratory, with appropriate recommendations and conclusions;
  • Check inventory levels of laboratory supplies and ensure that orders are placed on a timely basis;
  • Perform minor equipment repairs as needed;
  • Become familiar with approvals and permits and regulations as these apply to the operation of the laboratory and the treatment and disposal of hazardous substances;
  • Be responsible for the safe operation of the laboratory with regular safety training of personnel and safety meetings to target a zero level of incidents in the laboratory;
  • Stay abreast of, and introduce the latest technical developments including new procedures in areas that may apply to the operation of the laboratory;
  • Participate in the preparation of monthly reports to management and
  • Supervise a staff of at least twelve employees.
Requirements:
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in operating and maintaining a fire and solution assay laboratory;
  • Experience with operation and maintenance of a range of laboratory equipment;
  • Must have excellent computer skills;
  • Experienced in metallurgical tests, procedures and quality controls;
  • Effective communication skills – both oral and written, as well as solid interpersonal and problem solving skills;
  • High work standards and a professional presence and
  • The Project’s small and results-oriented team needs a self-starter with the ability to drive projects forward as an active contributor.
  • Driver’s license required
  • High school diploma or GED
