TWIST/TRIM OPERATOR role, “Production Operator”

Pay rate:$16 & “$17.25/hour if you have perfect attendance and work 48 hours that week.”

Monday to Friday OT on Saturday or OT after their shift

Shift: 2ND Shift 3:30pm to 12am

Operates a variety of machines that form, bend, cut, shape, twist and/or trim brush parts to specification.

Education/Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Duties and Standards:

Performs utility work which may include:

Bend or Bubble Wire – Place cut wire onto machine against the stop, activates machine to perform operation, removes bent wire from machine and places in tote.

Bead Brushes – Place beads on bent wire by inserting wire through bead. Rubber band and place in tote.

Assembly – Assemble tubing or other materials by hand onto brush part with adhesive, ultra-sonic welding, or heat gun.

➢ Load brushes and/or parts into machine to have next step in process completed.

Remove parts from machine and place in box or tote.

➢ Solder and/or acrylic dip tip of brushes.

➢ Wrap or crimp parts and/or bend or grind tips.

Machine twist brushes:

➢ Inert wire into chuck, grab fiber from hopper (using pliers) and insert fiber between

bent wire.

➢ Perform twisting and/or trimming of brushes.

➢ Fill hopper with fiber as needed.

➢ Clean hopper periodically by using a cloth or air.

Machine trim brushes:

➢ Place brush in machine or jig, turning stem of brush in between thumb and pointer finger to ensure all sides are trimmed to spec.

Keeping the machines stocked with the proper materials.

Performs visual inspections on the parts; and performs gauge / measurement inspections as required.

Put specified number of brushes and/or parts in a tote, bag or box.

Complete necessary production paperwork accurately as needed and/or instructed by supervisor.

If applicable, update Takt Image Boards for machines hourly with cumulative totals and any scrap produced. Put specified number of brushes in appropriate totes/boxes or bags.

Move completed totes or boxes to the appropriate location as stated on the Traveler. Notify Mechanic, Shift Supervisor or Production Personnel Manager if material is needed, the machine is not running properly, there is a high amount of scrap being run or for any other issues.

Meet with incoming operator and discuss any concerns pertaining to the machines and/or parts being run (if applicable).

Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.

Perform duties in other areas as requested.

Follow and participate in Company’s continuous improvement initiatives.

Comply with applicable ISO:9001 requirements.

Certificates and Licenses: No certifications required.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment: The performance of this position normally requires exposure to a typical manufacturing area where personal protective equipment, such as safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection is required. Temperature of work area may be affected by outside temperatures and machines. Position requires standing and walking for the majority of the shift.

Protective gloves are provided to operators to use as needed.
