Associate Director of Eye Care Job at Whittier Street Health Center

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Provides comprehensive eye care to patients as indicated, which may include assessment and management of acute and chronic diseases and treatment of injuries.
· Performs complete annual eye exams and records findings.
· Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as needed.
· Monitors fiscal parameters including: staff utilization, productivity and managed care panel size and effect any necessary change to meet the financial directives of the organization.
· Establishes and implements clinical standards of care and policies and procedures consistent with organizational goals and sound medical practice. Ensures compliance amongst providers for adherence.
· Analyzes and evaluates the functioning of the staff as it relates to aspects of clinical practice and care. Conducts yearly performance reviews incorporating developmental goals and improvement plan, if necessary.
· Assures that quality assurance programs are carried out in the eye care practice of the Health Center and submit quarterly reports of the same to senior leadership.
· Participates in screening, interviewing and recommending hire of department personnel; participates in orientation and training of personnel; assign and schedule work; review work performance and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
· Participates in multi-disciplinary projects focused on patient care and quality improvements.
· Maintains equipment and supply inventory.
· Maintains familiarity with medical/moral and medical/legal issues related to the eye care practice. Serves as a resource to the medical staff in related matters.
· Represents Whittier Street Health Center in its relationship with outside organizations and internal departments in matters relating to the eye care practice and patient care.
· Monitors scheduling habits and effects change necessary to accommodate patient accessibility. Makes recommendations to senior leadership on staffing policies and works with the various departments to assure compliance.
· Participates in professional development activities and maintain professional licenses and affiliations.
· Performs other duties as requested
Required Experience/Abilities/Competencies:
· Strong knowledge of organizational policies, procedures and systems.
· Strong knowledge of eye care practice and standards of care to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
· Knowledge of the community we serve and the ability to garner support from those leaders within the community to enable the organization to meet its goals and objectives.
· Knowledge of budget preparation and interpretation of financial reports and statements.
· Expertise in planning, organizing, delegating, and supervising.
· Ability to work with other physicians, providers and other healthcare professionals in a collaborative manner to meet the organizational goals and objectives.
· Knowledge of computer systems and applications.
· Skill in effective problem solving.
· Strong communication skills.
· Knowledge of community oriented primary care principles.
· Desire to engage in collaborative community-based health services research.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60.00 - $65.00 per hour
