Abode Services’ mission is to end homelessness – doing whatever it takes to help those who need it most. We are seeking an Associate Director of Housing Programs: to oversee our programs in San Francisco County.

Position Summary: :The Associate Director of Housing Programs position will assist Abode Services in accomplishing our mission to end homelessness. As part of the leadership team, the person in this position must be a leader committed to excellence and growth, as Abode Services is a dynamic agency continually changing to meet the needs of those we serve. This position with help to oversee our San Francisco operations which includes subsidy administration and housing location programs for both single individuals and families. This position will have the opportunity to support the development of new programs and foster new partnerships with landlords and property management companies in San Francisco and the surrounding communities. Through their direction, this leader will help Abode Services provide high quality programs that help homeless, formerly homeless, and low-income households transition into their new homes and support Abode’s efforts to reduce the barriers that prevent homeless individuals from obtaining permanent housing.

The Associate Director position will oversee program managers and other key staff that work directly with housing services and provide leadership to the overall housing teams. Additionally, they will represent Abode Services at a countywide level and be responsible for high-level collaboration and thought partnership with external partners.

Responsibilities:
    • Build and maintain strong partnerships with landlords, property management, City/County and other key housing partners.
  • - Participate in countywide meetings; provide feedback on successes and necessary course corrections- at the program and system level.
    • Supervise managers and real estate staff. Support them in assessing areas of improvement, system changes/needs. Provide feedback, coaching, training, and disciplinary action as needed.
    • Lead, in consultation with the Director of Housing and Services and program management staff, the development of new housing programs.
    • Ensure all aspects of the housing programs are meeting internal and external standards.
    • Engage in on-going tracking and evaluation of program goals and effectiveness.
    • Provide support to staff with dealing with participant crisis. Problem solve with managers on challenging participants and partner situations.
    • Oversee and approve the allocation of various housing support funding.
    • Work with Housing staff to ensure real time and accurate data entry is occurring.
    • Work with compliance team to ensure compliance of housing documentation and calculations.
    • Facilitate case conferencing and administrative meetings.
    • Develop materials, assessment tools, job descriptions, and other program processes/documents/tools.
    • Develop policy and procedures, and other aspects of the program.
    • Other duties as assigned by Director of Housing and Services.
Minimum Qualifications: :
    • BA/BS degree in Psychology, Human Services. Social Work, Sociology or related field required. MA/MS degree in Psychology, Human Services, Social Work Sociology or related field preferred.
    • Bilingual in Spanish or other language (Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, Hindi) preferred.
    • Lived experience with mental illness, homelessness, and/or co-occurring disorders or experiences as a family member of someone with lived experience preferred.
    • Must have at least 4+ years of experience providing program coordination and staff supervision.
    • Must have the ability to build strong collaborative relationship with other non-profit, city and county partners.
    • Ability to build supportive and respectful working relationship with participants, having sensitivity to, and understanding of the special needs of the homeless.
    • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with an emphasis in Excel.
    • Experience with program development, monitoring, and evaluation required.
    • Strong organizational, detail orientated, and time management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proven ability to work independently, effectively as an individual and part of the team.
    • Ability to effectively intervene in crises using de-escalation techniques.
    • Ability to work flexible hours, including some weekends and evenings.
    • Ability to meet the geographic range of the position. Position requires frequent travel throughout the greater Bay Area.
    • Strong ability to represent the interests of the agency, interact effectively with a diverse population, and be comfortable building successful collaborative relationships with tenants, staff, and with community and resource building.
    • Strong understanding and belief in Housing First Philosophies.
    • Reliable transportation and proof of a valid and current California Driver's License and current insurance along with a clean DMV record required.
