The Business Development Manager, Workforce and Business Solutions is responsible for building and managing the contract sales function of the College. This position develops revenue by identifying and securing training projects within the assigned geographic region from existing and new accounts, and/or projects assigned by the Director of Workforce and Business Solutions. This position serves as the initial contact with business and industry to establish relationships with customer decision-makers, using consultative selling skills to discover, diagnose, and solidify their needs and propose and deliver a world- class solution. The Business Development Manager, Workforce and Business Solutions is responsible for managing all contracts within established margins and expense parameters. This position will focus on the manufacturing industry cluster, designated geographic area, and support all areas and clusters, as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.
Manages and grows the department’s contract training account base utilizing a proactive approach to connect and nurture both existing and new client accounts.

2.
Connects with prospective clients to assess needs, determine fit and propose solutions. Prepares and delivers sales presentations and/or written proposals that illustrate the proper solution, ROI
for the client and profit margin for the department utilizing department procedures and pricing model.

3.
Strategically creates and maintains a sales strategy to reach revenue goals. Tracks all income/revenue sales by dollar amount. Invoices all contract training per department policies.

4.
Responsible for detailed project management of all contract training and consulting logistics with client, consultants/instructors, vendors, College departments (facilities, Business Affairs, IT), utilizing proper department and College policies and procedures.

5.
Tracks and reports all businesses training, the number of students in each class, any industry certificate earned/delivered and all other data required by the department.

6.
Manages and maintains a CRM system to track contacts and activity. Keeps a detailed training calendar of all current and pending training and consulting engagements.

7.
Provides excellent customer service to all clients, vendors and partners, including expeditious resolution of any departmental complaints, problems or issues.

8.
Strategically leverages client relationships to promote student enrollment in college credit industry certificate and degree programs. Coordinates with College community to explore
collaborations between credit and non-credit offerings.

9.
Represents the Workforce and Business Solutions department, and Clark State College, on workforce councils and boards, as assigned.

10.
In conjunction with the Director, Workforce and Business Solutions, engages with business and
community organizations to understand local workforce needs and utilizes data driven approaches to propose new training opportunities to fill in demand pathways.

11.
All other duties assigned by supervisor.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the trainers and consultants he/she contracts.
  • Supervises college work study student(s) when available.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business/Marketing or related field required; Master’s preferred.
  • Associate’s degree with requisite experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of three years of relational and solution sales experience
  • Recent experience with Clark and Champaign County customers, government agencies, and organizations, preferred.
  • Experience analyzing workforce data utilizing Jobs EQ, DOL and OhioLMI resources is helpful.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to build strong relationships and client loyalty with regional businesses and organizations.
  • Ability to academically link our offerings to the needs in the region.
  • Strong time management, organization, and strict adherence to detail required.
  • Polished professional attire and grooming consistent with college image is required.
  • Excellent oral, written, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Office suite, CRM systems, E-mail marketing
  • Must be able to give WebEx and online sales presentations.
  • Ability to take leadership and management role in Director’s absence.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Valid Ohio Driver’s License


LANGUAGE SKILLS


Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit, use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work is performed in an office-life environment with a minimal amount of noise. May also spend a significant amount of time at various locations meeting with community leaders and potential clients.
