The Business Development Officer is responsible for building relationships with key employers in the community and local business organizations to ensure financial workshops and product solutions are available to all within the Bank's communities.


The duties listed below may not include all responsibilities that the person in this role may be asked to perform. Incumbent may be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

  • Responsible for implementing a community playbook to engage the community in a meaningful way and will own the planning, execution, and reporting of events locally.
  • Develops relationships with key employers in each market to drive production.
  • Lead and coordinate a wide range of financial health initiatives in the community while referring leads to Banking Centers and other Lines of Business.
  • Coordinates activities with local business organizations such as EDCs, Chambers, Non-Profit organizations to deliver financial workshops.
  • Meets sales and referrals expectations based on a production scorecard, which includes but is not limited to, Deposit and Loan Production, Referrals to other Lines of Business, Penetration of Key Employers, Event Attendance, and Penetration.
  • Uses PADRE Sales & Service methods to uncover and understand the customer's financial needs, makes benefits-based recommendations, and refers customers to the banks' other Lines of Business for specialized products and services.
  • Partner with Regional Managers to monitor retail sales goals and associated sales analytics to increase production.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and feedback to the frontline.
  • Partners with the Marketing Department to coordinate attendance for special events such as; Vipers Games, Toros Games, Bert Ogden Area Events, Galas, Ribbon Cuttings, and other community events.
  • Acts as a liaison with the Training Department to promote required sales and sales management best practices.
  • Provide support identifying, analyzing, and implementing new methods and techniques to aid deposit and loan growth.
  • Provides guidance and support to retail staff members, as needed
  • Participates in strategic and tactical planning for the division
  • Develop a thorough and expert understanding of the business and its functions, processes, and operations.
  • Participates and presents in bank committees as assigned.
  • Provides progress reports to the Director of Business Development
  • Participates in job-specific training and other various Bank training programs, as necessary
  • Maintains current knowledge of internal risk controls and loss prevention, including reporting of suspicious or unusual customer activity per Bank policy, and ensures adherence by the respective department personnel
  • Maintains current knowledge and complies with all federal and state laws and regulations and all established Bank policies and procedures, including internal audit controls related to department operations, and ensures adherence by the respective department personnel
  • Maintains current knowledge of all rules, regulations, and laws as they apply to BSA/OFAC/USA Patriot Act/CIP/AML, and ensures adherence by the respective department personnel


QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field, preferred
  • 7 to 10 years of financial sales and service experience
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations to groups of potential clients
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is desired

ORGANIZATION

  • This position reports to the Director of Business Development
  • This position does not oversee other positions

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

All employees are required to attend scheduled mandatory trainings and complete online regulatory compliance training courses applicable to their specific job function. In all situations, employees must ensure that their actions fully comply with all federal banking laws and regulations, including internal bank policies and procedures. Failure to adhere to these requirements will be grounds for disciplinary action, including probation and possible termination.
