As a Barclays Excel Developer you will work closely with business. It is located on the trading floor next to the risk managers. Requirements are given fast and iteratively so an interest in the business and pragmatic use of technology to hit the optimum solution is essential. The candidate will need to be able to analyse the requirements as well as develop a robust solution.

We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. We’re flexible on how this works and it may continue to change and evolve. Depending on your team, typically this means that colleagues spend a minimum of between 20% to 60% of their time in the office, which could be over a week, a month or a quarter. However, some colleagues may choose to spend more time in the office over a typical period than their role type requires. We also have a flexible working process where, subject to business needs, all colleagues globally are able to request work patterns to reflect their personal circumstances

What will you be doing?

• Development of software tools and applications
• Interpreting market risk requirements and turning them into technical solutions
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a fast pace environment
• Clear communications with different Risk Management teams and effectively managing stakeholder expectations
• Liaising with different stakeholders in order to provide information, coordination, and/or status reports on various projects
• Software development/enhancements to meet Risk Mangers requirements
• General Business Analysis and systems development/enhancements related to Global Market Risk initiatives
• Co-ordination of different groups associated with the above initiatives including consolidating user issues

What we’re looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Finance or equivalent)
• Strong technical knowledge across a variety of programming languages, libraries, formats and platforms
• In depth C# and F# including both client and server
• Python

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Further study / ongoing education of any form in relation to this role
• Experience in developing technical solutions to business requirements in a Risk/Finance environment
• Advanced VBA/excel
• WPF and ASP.Net
