Camp Neeka Assistant Director Job at Josselyn

The assistant director will be an essential role throughout the duration of Camp Neeka, by designing training curriculum, leading groups, and guiding head counselors. They will act as a resource for both campers and counselors before and during camp. Responsible for implementation of camp activities and curriculum. In charge of activity roll out for campers.

Essential Responsibilities and Metrics

  • Oversees the creation of training curriculum for on boarding counselors.
  • Teach and model de-escalation strategies to counselors.
  • Strong behavior management.
  • Works directly with campers and counselors to maintain therapeutic setting.
  • Lead group therapy sessions during camp.
  • Responsible for camper de-escalation, parent support, and the whole group.
  • Able to resolve crisis situations.

Qualifications

  • MSW and/or 5 years of training school staff and teaching children and youth
  • 2-3 years of experience working in a community mental health center and/or a relevant field
  • Experience leading big groups
  • Experience in curriculum writing and development
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and the ability to communicate cross-culturally
