Care Companion - Assisted Living and Memory Care

General Summary:

Our Care Companions are members of our frontline workers who are in daily contact with our residents. They display the utmost concern and compassion for our residents as they tend to their needs. They support our residents with companionship, socialization, and encouragement.

Essential Job Duties:

• Participate in life enrichment programming to include gathering of residents; escorts to/from, assisting in life enrichment programs; and in family and social activities.
• Assist residents with transportation to/from community activities and dining rooms.
• Participate in housekeeping/laundry tasks to provide a clean and safe environment for residents/staff to work and live in; this may include bed making; laundry of residents’ personal items, towels and flat linens; maintaining cleanliness of surfaces and floors in individual apartments and common areas.
• Assist with dining services: plating of food in dining room, cutting food, assisting with feeding by offering encouragement and cueing.
• Report and record ANY changes in resident condition (physical, psychological, behavioral, social) to nurse on duty.
• Provide emotional support, encouragement, and socialization to the residents.
• Apply principles of infection control, including standard precautions, hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, cleaning and disinfection, respiratory hygiene, waste disposal.
• Monitor resident environment to ensure all safety standards are met or exceeded.
• Assist nurses and CNAs to promptly respond to all pendants, call lights and pull cords ensuring highest level of hospitality and customer service.
• Anticipate resident needs as much as possible.
• Routinely make rounds of resident care areas to ensure resident wellbeing.
• Provide emergency response within scope of practice.
• Follow through with all assignments completely, thoroughly and timely. Work collaboratively with team members to ensure success of community.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required
• Previous Care Companion experience
• 1+ year experience in a Upscale Senior Living environment preferred, but not required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Pushes and pulls up to 51 lbs. occasionally
• Climbs, reaches, bends and twists occasionally
• Talks and listens frequently
• Sits 2 hours per day; stands and walks 6 hours per day (combined) – 8 hr. day
