Job Description
This Responsible for finishing all surfaces, woodworking, drywall framing, installation and painting, using carpentry shop tools while following safety procedures. Reports directly to the Superintendent of Physical Plant and the Assistant Superintendent of Physical Plant. This position requires a person with multi-craft skills, ability to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, and other physically demanding duties. This position also requires physical mobility, manual dexterity, and ability to lift at least 70 lbs.

Job Duties
1. Work under the direction of the Superintendent of Physical Plant and the Assistant Superintendent of Building and Grounds, performing all duties as assigned.
2. Responsible for the woodworking, drywall framing and installation, hardware installation, and using carpentry shop tools.
3. Responsible for the painting of all interior/exterior surfaces, to include furniture, floors, walls, ceilings, trim, curbs, parking lots.
4. Perform all duties observing safety procedures and utilizing proper equipment (safety glasses, gloves, caution tape, tags, etc.).
5. Perform all duties as assigned in a timely manner and submit work orders upon completion of tasks with any discrepancies noted.
6. Work with contractors, subcontractors, and other vendors on campus.
7. Responsible for maintaining inventory on tools and equipment.
8. Assist with preventative maintenance.
9. Help resolve problems and perform other general maintenance in areas such as welding, changing light bulbs, machinery repair, janitorial, etc.
10. Work with all other maintenance personnel as assigned and on weekends, holidays, evening/nights, and all other hours as required.
11. Upgrade skill level and performance through employee development.
12. Must maintain a valid MS Driver’s License.

Mandatory Qualifications
(M1) High School Diploma or GED. (M2) Minimum of 3 years of experience in carpentry and/or painting. (M3) Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license. (M4) Must be able to communicate effectively with college personnel at all levels.

Desirable Qualifications
(D1) Five years or more experience in carpentry, painting, and general maintenance. (D2) Proficiency in computer operations such as email and Microsoft Office. (D3) Experience using facility management/work-order software. (D4) Experience in a community college or educational environment. (D5) experience with commercial door docks.
