MUST BE A CERTIFIED MEDIAL ASSISSANT IN UTAH! This position will be remote, but there will occasional driving in the Ogden-Bountiful area. You MUST live in the Ogden-Bountiful area. Position will be working from home except for the days they will deliver the Remote Patient Monitoring equipment. This will be around 2 days a week. This will start as a part time role and move to full time in about 3-4 months.

RPM Medical Assistant

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

Supervised by: Operating Manager
Positions Supervised: N/A
Interrelationships: Patients, family, facility staff, IDG and other health care team members

JOB SUMMARY:
Assists physicians, nurse practitioners, and other medical staff by performing administrative and clinical duties under the direction of a physician or nurse practitioner. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, delivering RPM devices. Clinical duties may include measuring vital signs, recording patient medical history, making telephone calls to patients.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Educational/Degree: Completion of an accredited medical assistance certification program required.

Training/Licensure: Graduate from an approved training and competency course.

Knowledge/Skills/Ability: Must meet state or federal (in absence of state) Medical Assistant training and competency requirements. Ability to work independently, make accurate, and at times, quick judgments.
Ability to respond appropriately to crisis outside of a hospital or clinic setting. Acceptance of and adaptability to different social, racial, cultural and religious modes.

Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience as a medical assistant, preferred.
Active patient contact within past three years, preferred.
1 year of experience with Microsoft Office programs, preferred.

JOB FACTORS:

Physical Requirements:
Requires considerable physical effort most of the day including kneeling, squatting, reaching, twisting, climbing, walking, exposure to temperature and humidity changes and maximal assist in lifting and/or transferring of a 100 pound patient. Must possess sight/hearing senses or use appropriate adaptive devices that will enable senses to function at a level required to meet the essential duties of the position. Must provide evidence of annual TB test and other state-required tests or examinations.

Mental Requirements:
Must be able to work independently, make judgments based on assessments and data available, and act accordingly. Must have excellent and clear communication skills, especially for interacting with elderly patients with potential cognitive or communication difficulties. Must be

RPM Medical Assistant flexible, innovative and possess good interpersonal skills. Must be able to cope with mental and emotional stress and demonstrate emotional stability.

Working Conditions:
Be able to tolerate exposure to elements including, but not limited to, odors, blood, body fluids and excrements, adverse environmental conditions and hazardous materials.

Transportation:
Must have a current valid driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and reliable transportation.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitor RPM readings remotely and report abnormal findings to providers
  • Delivery and setup of RPM devices
  • Providing education and training on RPM devices to patients, facility staff, and family
  • Ability to navigate electronic health records
  • Knowledge of Excel, ability to create reports and analytics using patient data
  • Obtain necessary patient information to file and update patient records
  • Interacting positively with physicians and advanced practice providers
  • Ability to deliver clear and direct patient information and address any needs arising from the monitoring process
  • Follow up with patient’s regarding their missing readings
  • Performs routine screening tests, such as blood glucose, height and weight measurements and blood pressure checks
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple situations happening at once
  • Strong attention to detail and instruction
  • Working with assisted living or skilled nursing facilities to ensure RPM compliance is met
  • Manage inventory of equipment
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
