POSITION SUMMARY
:

The Chief People and Culture Officer will be responsible for strategic, visionary and operational decisions and performance of all People and Culture programs under Masonic Health System’s umbrella. This includes HR strategic planning, workforce planning and talent management, recruitment & retention of staff, total compensation & benefits plan development, HR policy development, training and leadership development, employee relations, organization-wide performance management systems, organizational development, Team Members relations management. The Chief People and Culture Officer serves as a member of MHS’s Executive Leadership Team.

This position is ON-SITE at the Charlton, Massachusetts campus, and not not considered partially or fully remote.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develops, implements, and maintains the strategic vision for all People and Culture programs.
  • Direct supervision of the People and Culture Team. Consultative guidance, support and direction of all People and Culture programs under Overlook, in coordination with CEO and business entity leaders.
  • Consistently maintains a pulse on the culture of the organization as a priority, and uses all tools and resources available, including but not limited to: chat sessions, pulse surveys, organization wide surveys, one on ones, and group sessions, to understand cultural wins and opportunities.
  • Analyzes trends and prepares critical measurements to ensure competitive advantage in industry and specific markets.
  • Collaborates with Entity Leaders, Executive Team, and Managers across all entities.
  • Identifies and articulates people and culture issues, policies, procedures, and practices that impact the mission and climate of the organization.
  • Accountable to manage People and Culture Team Members & budget. Recruits, interviews, hires, orients, trains, appraises, counsels, provide discipline as needed, and terminates as necessary.
  • Provide oversight on the employment function recruiting, selection and placement programs.
  • Identifies training needs and develops training programs to meet organizational current and future needs.
  • Designs, directs and administers compensation programs that reinforce accomplishment of organizational objectives. Develops salary range structures, incentive/recognition programs, and merit increase guidelines/budgets.
  • Leads and provides oversight on performance management philosophy, programs, and tools.
  • Identifies and initiates organizational development interventions and changes navigation.
  • Develops strategy and provides oversight for all employee benefit programs. This includes group insurance plans, retirement, and paid time off plans.
  • Partners with Team Members and Management to resolve Team Member relations issues as they arise.
  • Maintains a human resource information system (HRIS) and other HR-related automated tools to facilitate management decisions and to automate administrative processes.
  • Collaborates and participates with Executive Council and others to develop and improve People and Culture policies and practices used throughout The Overlook/MHS.
  • Oversees The Overlook/MHS corporate compliance programs, policies, and reporting – i.e., drug/alcohol screening program, HIPAA, conflict of interest matters, etc.
  • May possibly travel to other venues and communities under The Overlook umbrella.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of Executive level experience (Vice President or Officer level - required
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR Management, Organizational Development, Business Administration or equivalent required – required
  • Master’s Degree, including but not limited to a Master of Science in Human Resources or MBA - preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience of proven operational experience in leadership and staff supervision. Proven track record of increasing responsibility and has strong generalist human resource experience and practice at the senior leadership level - required
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience Proven operational experience in staff development, training and supervision: ideally has worked in a leadership role using performance management and metrics for success; proven ability to develop and lead diverse work teams across multi-functional areas - required
  • Health Care and/or Senior Living experience - required
  • SHRM or HRCI certifications - preferred
  • Proven experience leading teams and organizations through cultural changes, with extensive knowledge of how to root cause, assess, and address to further build a culture of excellence.
  • Thorough knowledge of all federal, state and local Employment regulations.
  • Extensive experience with change management and transitioning of organizations, including partnerships, affiliations and merger-acquisitions.
  • Prior work in writing policies and procedure design and development.
  • Solid history of leadership effectiveness that demonstrates results in a growth organization.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with Team Members, executive leadership team and ownership.
  • Proven record of effective written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills.
  • Successful ability to self-motivate, self-direct, problem solve and achieve desired results.
  • Ability to think creatively with a keen awareness of market trends and opportunities within and outside the industry.
  • Candidate must possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license.
  • Extensive P&L responsibilities, including knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, accounting & management expertise.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

The individual is able to perform all physical requirements, which includes repeated bending, lifting of 25 pounds, capable of standing for up to 50% of work time on various surfaces, walking distances greater than a quarter mile and repeated stair climbing.


Must be able to meet sensory demands of touch, smell, vision, hearing, and be able to detect and distinguish circumstances signifying health and safety concerns/hazards in the work environment.


Demonstrates maturity and ability to work effectively and cooperatively as a member of The Overlook. Must also be able to perform multiple tasks on a daily and weekly basis. Must be able to handle some stressful situations (irate Residents, etc.).
