The Opportunity
The Compliance Attorney role will report to NJM’s Compliance Manager in the Law & Regulation Department. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with personal and commercial lines regulatory compliance experience to work with our compliance team to advance NJM’s regional expansion efforts.
Job Responsibilities
- Respond to internal requests for a compliance analysis and/or interpretation of regulations/statutes
- Review of rate and form filings
- Communicate with insurance departments in multiple states (regionally)
- Provides guidance, collaboration and support to the implementation process for key compliance strategies, initiatives and action plans.
Qualifications and Experience
- Undergraduate degree and JD required
- Licensed to practice law in at least one state and ability to fulfill New Jersey in-house counsel registration requirements
- 3-5 years of compliance experience in the insurance industry, with a focus on personal lines and commercial lines compliance
- Substantial knowledge of the insurance regulatory environment (experience with NJ, PA, NY, CT, DE and MD preferred)
- Strong information gathering and business analysis skills
- Ability to work independently and to collaborate with multiple departments and employees at all levels, and strong service-oriented disposition
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
