In conjunction with and under the supervision of the Director of Compliance, this position has responsibility for ensuring WellPower meets (or exceeds) ongoing compliance with legal, ethical, business, and professional standards. The Compliance Specialist will work hands-on to support compliance and regulatory matters, and will handle risk and quality improvement/assurance activities to identify and resolve compliance issues and concerns. This individual supports all Compliance department operations.

STARTING SALARY: $63,212 - $68,338/year

NOTE: This is a hybrid position that will require on-site work.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Oversee external audits. Coordinate with external agencies and internal departments on documentation requests and submissions, preparation for onsite visits, and corrective action plan responses. Circulate feedback to stakeholders.
  • Conduct internal audits. May include audits of electronic medical records. Determine scope, objectives, approach, and time budget. Identify risks and areas for improvement. Analyze audit findings and make recommendations to assist management in improving compliance and internal controls. Communicate audit results and recommendations in a clear and concise written report.
  • Coordinate implementation of internal and external corrective action plans. Monitor progress and completion. Conduct re-audits to verify corrective actions were fully implemented and effective.
  • Accesses confidential personnel information as necessary for auditors or regulatory purposes.
  • Manage the development, modification, communication, and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Review state and federal regulations. Synthesize the information and connect it to organizational practices and policies.
  • Develop and maintain compliance databases and tracking tools.
  • Manage annual facility licensing process. Review licensing regulations. Gather necessary information and documentation, and enter/upload into State software application.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • 3-5 years' experience in healthcare compliance, auditing, quality, or coding, or related experience gained through working in a medical or clinical role.
  • Fundamental understanding of state and federal healthcare laws and regulations.
  • Experience using an electronic health record required.
  • Medical and/or clinical professionals encouraged to apply.
