General Summary: As a Concessions Team Member (part-time), one is provided with the unique opportunity to contribute to many aspects of Audubon Nature Institute’s Food and Beverage department. The Concessions Team Member will learn to excel in all areas that make the restaurants at their designated location thrive. Each Audubon facility provides a unique variety of dining experiences that provide the Concessions Team Member with many valuable skills. To be successful in this position, one must be eager to interact with a diverse guest population, effectively manage their time, and possess a basic knowledge of food preparation and cash handling. This is an entry level position with competitive hourly pay, and the most important required skill is a smile and positive attitude!
To deliver on the Audubon mission, the Concessions Team Member will:
Provide a guest experience of outstanding quality
  • Greet each guest with hospitality, courtesy, and enthusiasm.
  • Prepare and present quality products according to the venue’s specifications and guidelines.
  • Comply with safety regulations and health regulations according to the guide lines set by Audubon and the State Health Department.
Concessions Team Members must be able and willing to work with fryers and grills. This may not be the area that a Team Member will work in everyday, but every Concessions Team Member will eventually learn the valuable skills of food preparation.
  • Attend and complete assigned training as scheduled.
  • Comply with any supervisor or manager job related request in a reasonable time.
  • Ability to learn proper use of all concession related equipment.
  • Ability to interact with customers through conversation and service.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Must be able to resolve differences in a professional manner.

o As a part-time position, there is an opportunity for flexibility regarding scheduling hours. But, we expect every employee to be willing and available to work weekends and holidays at any time needed.

  • The ability to learn to operate a cash register.

To deliver on the Audubon service promise, the Concessions Team Member will:
Welcome
  • Make eye contact with every customer encounter, smile at every person, offer friendly phrases and greetings.
  • Wear identification badge.
  • Walk individual to destination instead of pointing; offer assistance to guests who appear confused.
  • Assume ownership of potential safety hazards (wipe-up spill, pick up trash). Always have the camera-ready look.

  • Keep unpleasant concerns behind closed doors (vent backstage).

Experience: Some food and Beverage experience preferred
Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred, candidates may be considered without this qualification
Software Requirements: Cash register experience preferred
Machinery/Tools/Equipment Requirements: The ability to learn to operate a cash register and kitchen related equipment.

Physical Requirements:
1) The ability to exert up to 25 pounds of force occasionally, or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Will involve standing most of the time but may involve walking or sitting for brief periods of time.
2) Sitting or standing, bending, stooping, and the ability to carry items weighing up to 25 pounds.
3) Constant adequate range of motion and mobility required.
4) Regular near acuity with clarity of vision at 20 inches or less required.
5) Typical ability to collect and analyze numerical and written data and verbal information to reach logical conclusions and ability to determine the time, place and sequence of operations or actions required.
6) Regular talking and the ability to express and exchange ideas by means of language expected.
7) Regular hearing and the ability to perceive the nature of sounds.
8) Constant ability to read, record, or type data quickly and accurately required.


Environmental/Working Conditions:
1) Working long hours between breaks or meals required.
2) Ability to work under and handle stress in an appropriate manner required.
3) May be exposed to high, medium, or low noise intensity.
4) Constant contact with co-workers required.
5) Affinity for animals preferred.
6) Exposure to fluctuations in temperatures may be required.
7) Exposure to outdoor conditions may be required.
