The Business & Employee Skills Training (BEST) Center is the workforce development department at Genesee Community. GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

The coordinator is responsible for the development and oversight of various technical courses and training programs within The BEST Center. The Coordinator is responsible for a variety of key functions within The BEST Center, including increasing non-credit enrollment and program expansion.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages and maintains assigned open-enrollment courses and other new non-credit programs and activities including but not limited to Mechatronics, agricultural, mechanical, electrical, CNC, HVAC, and computer technical programs. Responsible for course budget creation, scheduling, instructor recruitment, facility and equipment selection, instructional materials, enrollment, providing support to ensure classes are conducted as scheduled, assessing learning outcomes, following up as needed and other related course/program duties to ensure success.

Identifies new non-credit educational needs and opportunities in the GLOW region through research, assessments, and outreach. Based on enrollment potential, and using curriculum design strategies, develops, coordinates, and promotes programs to meet these needs and opportunities.

Works closely with department secretary to ensure accurate enrollment of all students, confirm all necessary paperwork is completed, troubleshoot any enrollment issues, ensure fiscal accountability of courses and programs, and provide support to instructors, trainers, and consultants to ensure class success.

Ensures that student progress, including digital badges, micro-credentials, continuing education units (and similar units) is tracked, recorded properly and submitted to appropriate entities as may be required.

Drafts contracts, agreements and associated paperwork following contract negotiation by the Executive Director.

Maintains and updates M.O.U.s and agreements with outside entities, including 3rd-party training providers and state-government departments.

Maintains regular communication and visibility with company representatives, instructors, trainers, and consultants as well as external entities and the college's business office to ensure business is conducted in a timely manner.

Acts as liaison to instructors/trainers/consultants, Assistant Deans and Directors, and as necessary, as staff liaison to external entities, including program providers, state agencies, etc. Makes referrals to Executive Director as appropriate.

May act as a host or BEST Center representative at specific events as requested by Executive Director.

Assist with and provide departmental customer service for registrations, walk-ins, emails and incoming calls. Promote programs and student success through providing information and advisement, answering questions, addressing concerns and resolving issues regarding programs and their requirements. Makes referrals to other staff members as necessary.

Works as part of The BEST Center team to develop programs, training, marketing ideas, increase efficiency, build team cohesiveness, optimize revenue and support The BEST Center's and college's strategic priorities, mission and goals.

Works with other college personnel and offices to create, manage and deliver programs.

Assists Campus Centers in submitting, offering and managing new and assigned courses.

Serves on college committees and teams as required.

Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.


Job Requirements:


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in business, organizational development, education, marketing or related field required.

Experience

A minimum of three years' (or five with an Associate's) full-time experience in either education or in program management/project management required. Experience in program development/design and instruction, or workforce-development program management with experience in training and development preferred. Experience developing and maintaining relationships with community organizations is preferred. Familiarity with the GLOW (Genesee, Livingston, Orleans and Wyoming Counties) region preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Required

Knowledge and competence in the use of Microsoft Office. Must possess strong organizational skills and be capable of handling a high degree of administrative responsibility. Must be versatile, creative and capable of carrying out a variety of tasks with a minimum amount of supervision. Understanding of basic accounting principles and budgets. Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate and work effectively with office staff, faculty, students and members of the communities served. Must be able to demonstrate a strong commitment to diversity.

Preferred

Strong knowledge of adult-learning methodologies, curriculum design and course administration and implementation. Experience in instructor recruitment, supervision and evaluation. Knowledge of current business-training trends, organizational needs, computer technology and life-long learning topics.

SALARY AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary, benefits and conditions of employment are as set by the GEA contract. Evening and weekend hours may be required.
