Looking for a Cost Engineer to perform the following duties at client Pomona office:

  • Develop and maintain project budgets/baselines, short- and long-term forecasts, and expenditure plans for assigned project(s) and/or program(s). This includes the aggregation, reconciliation, variance explanation, and update to the budget(s), forecast(s) and spending plan(s) according to jurisdiction splits, asset types, cost drivers, and funding sources.
  • Perform routine and ad-hoc research, updates, and data gathering/analysis in areas of cost controls (e.g. budget, actual, commitment, contingency). Prepare and present results, alternatives, insights, and/or recommendations to support business decisions, to manage project costs and schedules, and to mitigate potential risks to assigned projects and/or programs.
  • Prepare project controls data request responses and work papers in supporting corporate/OU governance, internal/external audits, General Rate Cases, and any pertinent regulatory filings.
  • Assess customer needs and determine recommended approach to resolve matters of significance. Apply knowledge following prescribed procedures or determining which procedures or best practices to follow. Determine whether specified standards have been satisfied
  • Software Knowledge:
  • Thorough familiarity with MS office suite software - Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Excel skills should include solid knowledge of complex formulas, Pivot tables, and lookups.
  • Experience using SAP is required.
  • Professional Experience Level/Other Qualifications:
  • 4- to 12-years cost engineering experience with 3- to 5-years in direct support of an active construction projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and reporting the cost components of large-scale, complex projects.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with a large-scale cost reporting system is required; experience with Prolog and SAP is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Design-Build and Construction Management at Risk delivery methods is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand technical and complicated construction programs, and explain nuanced cost issues to both technical- and management-level personnel.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with all team members
  • Project Controls discipline
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience in Activity Based Costing (highly desired)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with
  • SAP Finance Module
  • Microsoft software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
  • Communication software (e.g., MS Team, Skype)
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience with MS Project or Primavera
  • Bachelor degree or above
