Position Title
Counselor, Financial Aid Student Employment

Job Duties
This position is responsible for administering the Federal Work Study and student employment program and for client services including counseling students and parents regarding the availability of financial assistance through the federal, state and institutional forms of aid, and the application process.

Starting @ $42,064 /yr. Benefits package includes: paid sick/vacation/personal/holidays (including time between Christmas and New Year’s), generous health/dental insurance options, KPERS retirement, and voluntary benefit offerings.

Qualifications

Required knowledge and skills
A. Ability to work and counsel effectively with various types of students and families.
B. Ability to work effectively with personnel from federal, state and local agencies, and lending institutions.
C. Ability to read and interpret federal regulations and apply to institutional procedures.
D. Organization skills applicable to detailed accounting necessary in the administration of the federal and institutional programs.
E. Ability to supervise and apply personnel policy as outlined by the college.
F. This position requires access to federal aid databases and therefore cannot be in default or owe an over payment in any Title IV Federal Financial Aid program.

Required experience
A. Minimum of one year experience in Higher Education
B. Higher Education experience in financial aid preferred
C. Experience in an educational setting applicable to counseling
D. Experience with MS Office products
E. Experience with Student Information Systems or similar databases preferred

Required educational background
Associates degree required
Bachelor’s degree preferred or will consider equivalent years of relevant work experience and education
