The Online Division, located in Boca Raton, FL is currently seeking a Dean of Students.
We are looking for a proven leader to manage an academic advising team and provide excellent student service in an environment that embraces learning, positive spirit, high-performance, integrity and diversity.

General Job Description

The Dean of Students is responsible for the overall academic administration for the Online Division. The Dean hires and supervises Academic Advisors and the Re-entry Counselor. The Dean also determines students’ satisfactory academic progress, completes status changes, degree audits, file audits, academic advising, appeals, and all functions of the academic advising department. The Dean manages retention of staff and students and participates in ongoing academic issues for the Online Division and University as directed. The Dean participates as a member of the Campus Response Team (CRT) and coordinates with other departments to implement academic policies and procedures set by Vice President of Academic Affairs. The Dean is responsible for ensuring student satisfaction at the Online Division level.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Monitor Last Day of Attendance (LDA) and conduct retention efforts, including phone calls, texts, and emails to students.
  • Respond to student issues, calls, texts, and emails for assistance and academic advising.
  • Take action on requests and questions from other Departments, other Online Division Academic staff, the Online Division Vice President, and the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
  • Training activities as necessary to maintain continuous improvement in all Academic Advising Department areas.

Weekly Responsibilities

  • Monitor retention and lead all academic team meetings and Online Division LDA meetings.
  • Meet with the Online Division Vice President and Vice President of Academic Affairs for planning and feedback.
  • Assist in the preparation and distribution of the Dean of Students Daily Activity Report submitted to the Online Division Vice President, Vice President of Academic Affairs, and University President.
  • Conduct Blackboard classroom observations of students as needed.
  • Be available to troubleshoot for faculty and students as needed.
  • Responsible for achieving departmental budgeted goals and objectives for attrition and re-entries.

Monthly Responsibilities

  • Completion and review of SAP, conduct satisfactory academic progress student advising at the completion of each student semester.
  • Conduct student advising for students changing status (Graduates, Drops, Leaves of Absence and Academic Interrupts).
  • Assist the Admissions department with incoming new students.
  • Participate in the start meetings and new student orientations.
  • Work with Academic Advisors and Re-entry Counselor to ensure Welcome Calls occur for all new students and re-entry students starting each term.
  • Oversee Academic Advisor activity and Re-entry Counselor activity with new students and re-entry students throughout their first semester.

Quarterly Responsibilities

  • Assist department in updating the quarterly Institutional Effectiveness campus master plan.
  • Ensure accreditation standards are being met.
  • Attend Program Advisory Committee (PAC) meetings.

Annually Responsibilities

  • Maintain attrition rate of 4% or lower.
  • Assist and monitor Institutional Effectiveness goals, such as surveys and assessments.
  • Meet and exceed student satisfaction goals.

EDUCATION: A minimum of a Master’s degree and four or more years of academic advising experience.

This is a full-time position that requires day, evening, and weekend availability.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
