Job Duties (include but not limited to):
- Enters billing data into a database and transmits dental claims to insurance companies in a timely manner.
- Monitors and utilizes the Clearinghouse for claim submission and denials.
- Reviews and troubleshoots claim errors.
- Manages denials, invalid claims, rejections, and resubmissions; assists in appeals as needed.
- Makes notes in the system pertaining to claim corrections, deletions, and mailed/faxed claims.
- Collects and follows outstanding claims through insurance portals and/or calls insurance payors directly.
- Audits all claims billed daily.
- Works as an effective team member for month-end closing.
- Collaborates with other staff/team members to ensure accurate clean claims are submitted.
Job Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Dental billing experience preferred.
Special Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read and interpret insurance provider manuals and documents related to billing requirements and procedure manuals.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality on all client records and business-related records, as required under HIPAA guidelines.
- Demonstrates accuracy in work.
- Knowledge of Excel, Word, and Clearinghouse software.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated and able to demonstrate critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to research issues as needed, stay abreast of changes with carrier rules, and distribute the information within the agency.
- Knowledge of dental terminology is preferred.
