The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office is hiring experienced police officers from across the State of Ohio for full-time Patrol Section positions. Requirements (Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification)
- Valid and active Ohio (OPOTA) Peace Officer Certification with currently no more than 1 year break in service; OSHP troopers are welcome to apply
- College degree preferred
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
Job Duties (Summary)
- Patrols County areas as assigned conducting patrol activities by protecting life and property of citizens, enforcing State motor vehicle laws and criminal laws; maintains high visibility and is alert to criminal activities per information furnished by radio communication, observation and other sources.
- Conducts proactive patrol, increases crime prevention awareness within his or her patrol area and regularly develops contact with citizens.
- Prepares and submits electronic reports pertaining to crimes, incidents, activities and other violations.
- Responds as directed to scenes of traffic accidents; keeps bystanders out of danger; safeguards property as required; gives assistance to injured persons as required; investigates conditions and the cause of the accident.
- Pursues and apprehends violators of traffic and criminal law.
- Performs investigations and prepares reports on crimes and complaints to which assigned.
- May appear and testify in court on traffic, criminal or civil cases.
- As assigned, safeguards crime scenes and preserves physical evidence relating to various crimes.
- Performs related duties as required and assigned

- Departmental policies and procedures; Federal, State and local laws; law enforcement practices and procedures; safety and security practices and procedures; public relations; court processes and procedures.
Skill in
- Safe operation of a motor vehicle; use of firearms.
