Position Summary
Dip room operations including pattern wash, building of slurries, slurry maintenance, pre-wet, core pack, dipping, stucco, preparation of molds for dewax, dewax and climate control.
Pay Rate $17.50
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Receive molds from Wax Room, Shell Wash, Mold Wash, Bottom Board, Mix Slurry, Clean slurry tanks, Dewax Operation, Hand Dip
Receive molds from Wax Room: Attach hangers and stage for mold wash.
- Mold Wash: Refers to the cleaning of the wax assembly or “Pattern Wash” visually inspect the assembly for any wax defects, pinholes, flash, poor seals, etc.., return for any defective assembly to the Wax Room for repair.
- Dewax: Evacuation of the wax pattern and sprue system is accomplished by one of two methods, either by Steam autoclave or Flash fire
- Shell Wash: Wash shells after dewax using steam or hot water
- Clean Slurry Tanks: Dump old slurry and clean tanks to prepare for a new slurry
- Bottom Board: The term “Bottom Board” refers to the procedure for removing the hanger shoe, plastic boot and the pipe nipple after the last dip coat is completely dry and in preparation of the Dewax operation.
- Hand Dip: Dip molds by hand
- Mix Slurry: Mix slurry base and sock to new slurry
- Employee is required to wear Personal Protective Equipment
For the first quarter employee is required to wear a fabric apron. After the 3rd month, Miller Castings will provide employee a uniform with a name tag. Inside Dip Room Employee must wear; Safety glasses, Steel shoes, Hard hat, Mask (optional)and plastic gloves

- Dip Room: Uniform, Safety glasses, Steel shoes, Hard hat, Mask (optional), plastic gloves, fabric apron
- Dewax: Uniform, boots, gloves, apron
Minimum Requirements: (Knowledge, skills, and abilities)
Basic elementary skills, Ability to work overtime, weekends, and Holidays. Ability to communicate, problem solving, teamwork and initiative. Show up on time. Ability to comprehend simple instructions.

/ or move up to 35 lbs. Specific vision abilities by this job include close vision. Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Department temperature between 60° - 80°F
2 -Day shift positions open, hours from 6 am to 2:30 pm and Saturdays from 6:00 am to 12:00 noon or as needed
1- Night position open, hours from 4:00 pm to 12:30 am and Sundays from 6:00 am to 12:00 pm with possibilities of working longer hours
6:00 am - 2:30 Monday thru Friday
Saturdays 6:00 am to 12:00 noon or as needed
4:00 pm - 12:30 Monday thru Friday, Sundays from 6:00 am to 12:00 pm
