Since 1980, the Veterans Multi-Service Center (VMC) has been providing comprehensive resources and services to address the multiple needs of veterans of all wars and conflicts. VMC’s programs and aid have grown to recognize, address and advocate for the evolving needs of veterans of the U.S. military and their families throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

The Director of Homeless Housing & Veteran Services is responsible and accountable for all aspects of VMC's service delivery as it relates to homelessness, housing and veteran programs; provides leadership and oversight of approximately $2 million of homeless services-based programming targeted to United States military veterans. Specifically, the position is accountable for multiple teams and/or programs that may or may not be related and may or may not be based together, as housing services is spread across Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

RESPONSIBILTIES INCLUDE:

  • Oversees assigned programs at VMC Philadelphia headquarters to include HUD funded grants in Philadelphia County and assigned additional targeted grant programs in full compliance with local, state and federal agency regulations and requirements; ensures that programs routinely obtain minimum productivity benchmarks and complies with all agency metric protocols, as well as all contract performance expectations; ensures the housing program routinely passes internal and external audits
  • Ensures all programs sustain any required licenses and comply with all payer documentation, data requirements, city and state rules and regulations as they pertain to housing
  • Works with Continuum of Care (HUD) Program partners and essential partner agencies to ensure coordination of homeless housing services and referrals to/from VMC
  • Achieves targeted case management outcomes and monthly targeted budget goals through effective management of revenue streams and controlling variable expenses in collaboration with the Business Management Office
  • Seeks and creates broader VMC opportunities; represents VMC in fundraising and grant writing as necessary
  • Arrange and conduct team meetings to ensure positive communication and resolve operational issues as needed
  • Provides support and information to the team to improve their case management skills with clients and their families
  • Fosters a work culture and program environment of continuous quality improvement
  • Attends administrative meetings and participates in committees as requested
  • This position collaborates with upper management to determine productivity benchmarks and assists with the development of expanded services and/or new payer sources
