The Director of Procurement will be responsible for developing a strategic centralized approach to procurement and the materials management process for the purchase of direct and indirect goods and services. The successful candidate will build a strategy that entails a data driven supplier selection processes, identifying supply chain related risks, and providing recommendations on mitigation and collaboration with business partners supporting cost reduction activities. In this role, you will be responsible to ensure that the procurement strategy is aligned with AmeriVet’s and Operations strategic objectives.

Core Role Responsibilities

  • Define overall procurement strategic direction for planning, organizing, leading, measuring, and analyzing the sourcing of direct and indirect goods and services
  • Continuous review and analysis of the strategy is required to accommodate changes in market dynamics. Help formulate strategy, recommend & implement solutions and adjust according to demands
  • Direct the solicitation process for competitive bids and proposals in a manner consistent with all local, state, and federal regulations
  • Negotiate with vendors to obtain the best possible term
  • Develop and implement on key strategic programs and projects to align with the needs of the business
  • Resolve problems with vendors to improve vendor relationships and promote cooperation
  • Develop centralized procurement program adding value and efficiency to the organization
  • Plan, develop, and implements business plans and budgets, including long-range objectives, performance goals and metrics for each category by collaborating with Operations and Legal and other teams as needed to champion cross-functional sourcing initiatives
  • Manage the development of procedures to ensure goods and services are available to business units and maintain sufficient inventory levels to support the business
  • Provides continuous leadership, oversight of work quality and constructive feedback to the team
  • Ability to travel 40% within North America
Requirements:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in materials management, supply chain management, or related field required
  • At least 8 years of progressive procurement experience
  • Experience with complex bidding and procurement specifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in veterinary or human healthcare environment preferred, specifically in multi-entity environment
  • Strong leadership skills including the ability to influence senior management through effective communication and presentation skills, and persuasive positioning
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills to manage relationships throughout the organization.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects from conception to completion in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be results oriented with strong negotiation skills
  • Maintain a high level of ethical conduct at all times
