Director, Skagit, Island and San Juan County Outpatient

Compass Health is currently looking for a Clinical Director to join the Compass team in Mt. Vernon!

What you will be performing

The Director oversees and directs systems and services for a range of outpatient services for children, adults, and older adults in Skagit, Island and Whatcom Counties, including standard outpatient mental health services, 24/7 intensive outpatient mental health services, substance use disorder services and a number of special contracts and programs. This position is responsible for all related clinical services, management of all human and financial resources, ensuring that quality services and quality improvement take place in an efficient and timely manner, and establishing and maintaining effective working relations with all systems of care. This position responds to after-hours calls from the manager-on-call as needed.

  • Develops service objectives and manages utilization of resources to accomplish objectives.
  • Ensures that program services are accessible in a non-discriminatory manner and at times and locations which facilitate utilization of services.
  • Ensures that all services provided within the area of responsibility meet the established standards of care.
  • Ensures the appropriate coordination of all services within appropriate geographic areas.
  • Ensures provision of services is in accordance with requirements of organization, and all regulatory bodies and payers.
  • Ensures productivity and clinical standards are met by clinical staff.
  • Ensures utilization management of services appropriate to the model(s) of care in that program.
  • Provides appropriate administrative and clinical supervision and/or consultation to supervisory staff.
  • Hires, supervises, and evaluates program managers as well as some clinical and support staff.
  • Oversees all human resources, financial resources, management, and planning for area(s).
  • Assures implementation of all building health and safety standards.
  • Monitors budget, policies and procedures while maintaining quality and productivity.

What you will be carrying along

  • MA/MS/MSW Degree in a Behavioral Science related field.
  • Current Washington State Licensure or equivalent in Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy, or Mental Health Counseling preferred.
  • Qualifies as a Mental Health Professional (MHP) as defined by WAC.
  • 5+ years post-graduate mental health experience in a behavioral health care setting.
  • 2+ years of supervisory/management experience in a behavioral health care setting.
  • Washington State Approved Supervisor Training must be completed prior to providing clinical supervision.
  • Individuals who do not already hold a license or associate license through the Washington State Department of Health must submit Agency Affiliated Counselor application upon hire and be approved by the DOH.
  • Valid Washington State Driver’s License including vehicle and appropriate insurance

  • Thorough knowledge of clinical issues related to acute treatment of children, adolescents, adults, and older adults.
  • Ability to evaluate system dynamics and opportunities to position programs and Compass Health in such a way as to facilitate program and agency growth and development.
  • Ability to prepare, monitor, and manage the operating budget and program operations and performance and take corrective action when needed.
  • Awareness of trends and emerging best-practice models in the integration of behavioral health and primary health.
  • Demonstrated understanding of team dynamics and the ability to develop a healthy, positive work environment.
  • Ability to maintain a positive, solution-focused demeanor when responding to conflicts or problems.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to multitask within a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
