Description

We are seeking highly adaptable and self-motivated professionals to join our team at the Pierce County Secure Community Transition Facility located on McNeil Island in the beautiful Puget Sound. The Secure Community Transition Facility is a structured and closely supervised community residential program where residents continue treatment in a community setting. Our program treats people who are detained and/or civilly committed and assists them in addressing their sexual offending histories. We are looking for people who are interested in making positive contributions to the lives of others.

As a Residential Rehabilitation Counselor, you will work collaboratively with a team of professionals to implement treatment strategies and interventions that support the needs of our residents. Residential Rehabilitation Counselors are responsible for the daily support and monitoring of residents, escorting/chaperoning services in the community, healthy engagement opportunities, and fostering a safe and secure environment.

Some of what you'll do:
  • Provide day-to-day supervision and monitoring.
  • Create opportunities for social and therapeutic engagement in individual and group settings.
  • Assist and encourage residents in completing essential life skills.
  • Escort residents to and from community outings/appointments.
  • Maintain a safe and secure living environment.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop accurate and detailed written documentation and reports.
Who should apply?
Professionals with one of the following:
  • High school graduation or GED, and 2 years of experience providing direct care of people with behavioral health issues.
  • Or college-level coursework will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Equivalent education/experience will also be considered.
What we're looking for:
  • Those who lead by example.
  • Knowledge of CPR and first responder level first aid
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with staff and residents from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to demonstrate an acute awareness of safety protocols and utilize strong judgment skills to assess environments and situations, making sound decisions within the scope of the job.
  • Effective and flexible communication skills with the ability to write comprehensive and concise documentation with attention to detail.
