Job Summary:

Mid Continent Controls is looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Derby, KS. Under the general supervision of the Engineering Manager, the Electrical Design Engineer would be responsible for designing in-flight entertainment and aircraft cabin management equipment at a circuit-level. Qualified candidates should possess schematic capture and PCB layout experience, as well as a desire to learn and implement new electronic technologies as in-flight and consumer industries evolve.Under the direct supervision of the Production Manager, the Production Scheduler will generate, update and maintain the production schedule for the sub assembly and final assembly operations of our company products. The individual will work closely with the Sales, Purchasing and Materials Departments to ensure that the schedule supports the production requirements in the most efficient manner.

Job Functions:

· Performs design work, including hardware selection, schematic creation, and PCB layout.

· Tests, troubleshoots, and debugs new product designs and research issues to ensure product is functioning properly.

· Develops test equipment and procedures for newly designed products.

· Produces assembly/manufacturing documentation for new products.

· Performs research on new products and product improvement.

· Works with mechanical, software, and certification engineers to design a customer requested product from start to finish.

· Works with manufacturing and quality departments to ensure the product is built to specifications per the customer requirements.

· Performs other duties as deemed necessary or as required.

Essential:

· Review open sales orders, stock inventory levels and sales forecasts in order to generate the most efficient production schedule.

· Prepares the necessary documentation, including production work orders, to be used by production personnel to implement the schedule.

· Ensures that production data is updated accurately and is reflected in the schedule in a timely manner.

· Communicates with the Sales Department to ensure that the production schedule meets customer requirements.

· Makes the necessary changes to the production schedule to meet the changing demand for products.

· Issues and tracks work orders, ensuring that required material is supplied to the production floor, according to the production schedule.

· Coordinates with the Purchasing Agent to ensure that all necessary purchased items are available to support the production schedule. Immediately advises the Production Manager of any conflicts.

· Communicates with the Shipping Department to ensure that completed orders are processed and shipped in a timely manner.

· Reviews and analyzes historical production data to determine the most efficient way to schedule production in the future.

Marginal:

· Performs other duties as requested, directed or assigned.

Job Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

· Bachelor of Science in Electronics/Electrical Engineering (BSEE or BSEET) or equivalent combination of education, training and experience required.

At least 3 years prior experience in production scheduling field. Employee is expected to acquire the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well within 90 days in the position.

Education: High School diploma or GED required. Some college preferred.

Required Skills:

· Experience in Schematic Capture and PCB Layout.

· Working knowledge of electronic testing equipment (oscilloscope, DVM, logic analyzer, etc) and troubleshooting, debugging, and soldering skills.

· Experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint are required.

· Strong computer, verbal and written skills are required.

· Ability to work independently to develop PCB designs with considerations for mechanical and software engineering teams.

Skills expected include demonstrated computer skills (Microsoft Office Word, Excel & Access). Must possess good planning skills, strong organizational skills and excellent communication skills (both oral and written).

Preferred Skills:

· Altium Designer experience is preferred.

· Experience with designing electrical hardware to meet or exceed DO-160 or TSO testing is preferred.

· Experience with RF PCB Layout

· Experience in high-power AC, DC, and AC/DC converter PCB Layout

· Experience in high-speed video or data transfer PCB Layout

· Design knowledge of thermal cooling and EMI shielding requirements for electronic equipment is preferred.

· 3D modeling experience utilizing Solidworks is considered a plus.

Certificates and Licenses: None required.

Problem Solving: Frequent problem solving exists in this position when handling customer issues, both internally and externally. Must be self motivated and have the ability to work independently and manage several projects simultaneously.

Decision Making: Occasional decision-making is required in this position.

Financial Accountability: Employee is responsible for the safe use of departmental tools and equipment. Employee is not involved in authorization of departmental expenditures.

Personal Relations: Employee has frequent contact with other employees and other departments.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment: No adverse working conditions exist. Moderate Major computer use is required for this position. A majority of the time, this position performs work in a normal office environment, which are normally quiet conditions.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required perform office and computer work. Ability to provide information and to respond to questions from customers is required. The employee must have the ability to write reports and other correspondence, and the ability to effectively discuss information and respond to questions from other groups of managers and employees.

Pay: $52,948.48 - $70,000.00 per year
