Supports the Facilities, Health & Safety Department in short- and long-term activities through communication and technical knowledge. Assists with EHS/sustainability programs and compliance activities aligned with corporate and site level initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to develop and manage regular reporting of performance metrics for energy consumption, waste generation, and sustainability.
  • Support compliance and improvement activities of the ISO 14001, Environmental Management System, certification with the goal of progress to a mature system.
  • Communicate through presentation slides, emails, or in-person, the status of programs and activities.
  • Strive to embed sustainability into all aspects of the business by proactively identifying current, emerging/trending, and potential issues in the area of sustainability, health, and safety.
  • Optimize local and corporate sustainability initiatives.
  • Responsible for Federal, State and local permitting and compliance.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and function as a trusted adviser to key internal stakeholders.
  • Develop, manage, coordinate, and perform training to ensure adoption and compliance to EHS requirements.
  • Contribute to emergency planning, with development toward a leadership role, in EH&S emergency situations. Implement adequate evacuation and response arrangements for fire, accidents and all other emergency situations.
  • Contribute to EH&S incident assessment and response by identifying and documenting, with objective evidence, root cause investigations, action planning/implementation, and effectiveness check planning.
  • Represent the company on EH&S affairs with relevant external parties, including customers, ensuring adequate response to all regulatory and legal issues and customer requirements.
  • Occasionally, cooperate on Facilities projects including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design, installation, and implementation.

The candidate we seek must possess:

  • BS in Engineering or related field
  • 0-3 years of experience in a comparable position
  • Capable of independent work given broad guidance and able to provide multiple options to resolve issues.
  • Experience in an FDA regulated industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of EPA, OSHA, DEP, ISO 14001 standards, and local regulations.
  • Strong analytical skills and logical thought process.
  • Ability to identify problems and issues proactively.
  • Able to work effectively, and reprioritize as new demands arise.
  • Ability to author studies, reports and proposals related to subject matter.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills required, including written and verbal presentation skills. Excellent advisory and influencing ability required to work collaboratively and effectively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute results on several complex projects at the same time.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications are required (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
