Key Responsibilities

People & Leadership Responsibilities

  • Encourages a team-minded culture. Coach and lead the Engineering team alongside your fellow engineering leaders. Support the Director of Engineering’s vision by celebrating successes and providing feedback for growth. Keep a collaborative-mindset and serve as a role model demonstrating appropriate behaviors and expectations.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships and communication practices with all departments to assure effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Support new hire training efforts alongside your fellow engineering leaders. Display an eagerness to grow and support the growth and advancement of your teammates.
  • Communicate effectively (verbally and written) and regularly with department heads to become aware of maintenance needs and ensure timely response to internal requests. Display active listening skills, clarify questions or concerns, and check for understanding to achieve a thorough understanding.
  • Attend all meets as scheduled by the People & Culture team and the Director of Engineering.

Guest Facing Responsibilities

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Forbes Travel Guide and their standards. Provide elevated, personalized, and best-possible service to guests at all times.
  • Anticipate and respond to guest needs quickly, and proactively when possible. Expect and react promptly to guest requirements, requests, and inquires.
  • Actively listen and ask questions as needed to fully understand guest complaints/issues. Navigate difficult conversations with best practices, such as: remaining calm and professional, staying empathetic, and displaying confidence that you can help – if/when you can’t help, pull in support from management. Debrief team following difficult conversations.
  • Communicate clearly, utilizing professional language and a friendly/warm tone.

Task-Based Responsibilities

  • Ensures operational excellence by supporting maintenance and repair efforts and upkeeping TWV’s luxury appearance.
  • Completes daily, weekly, and monthly checklists on hotel equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of schedule maintenance procedures.
  • Adheres to all safety and security guidelines regarding equipment safety, guest/colleague safety, and safe chemical handling procedures. Actively participate in TWV’s safety plan and energy improvements.
  • Conduct weekly and monthly inventory and report findings to Engineering Management. Maintain written inventories citing important info such as: vendors, pricing, part numbers, descriptions, minimum and maximum quantities. Assist with ordering parts and supplies.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in mechanical or electrical systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing) and other equipment throughout the hotel.
  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required. Navigate stressful situations with best practices such as: prioritizing safety, remaining calm and professional, delegating and collaborating with colleagues, liaising with third parties. Keep a pro-active mindset and engage with long-term problem solving and preventative maintenance regularly.
  • Assist with the planning and execution of remodeling projects and seasonal activations – including: HVAC, electrical, carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping.
  • Supervise the maintenance of the hotel’s pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters, completing request forms and record logs.
  • Maintain the building’s exterior and curb appeal – e.g., snow removal, lawn and garden care.

Required Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician, must include Supervisory experience.

Preferred Certifications

  • F58
  • Boiler/Standpipe
  • Pool Operator
  • HVAC

Qualifications

  • Outstanding communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks at hand – maximizing efficiency and results.

  • Understanding of Microsoft Office - Excel, Word, Email.
  • Schedule flexibility to meet the demands of a 24-hour operation.

  • Must maintain a high standard of personal appearance and grooming.
  • Must be able to lift, hold, and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive guest and colleague information.
