The Boeing team is seeking an Entry-Level Mission Systems Test Engineer to work at Eglin AFB, FL as part of a Boeing Test & Evaluation engineering team performing on-site F-15 tactical fighter aircraft flight test activities.

Principal responsibilities will include performing and coordinating the integration, evaluation, and verification of new electronics/avionics, aircraft sensors, weapon/armament systems, and software operating system upgrades on all variants of F-15 aircraft (F-15C, F-15E, F-15EX, and export versions).

Daily activities will include planning, communicating, coordinating, and executing complex test activities including the performance of root-cause analysis/troubleshooting to identify and sort actual problems from non-problems. Direct and frequent interaction will be required across multiple engineering groups and technical teams. This position will require working closely with United States Air Force (USAF) personnel to assist with the new systems under development and daily flight test missions.

If selected, you will be routinely involved in a wide variety of different and interesting projects and advanced technology systems being integrated onto F-15 fighter aircraft. These test programs will allow you to get hands-on with cutting edge technology where innovative problem solving is embraced. Additionally, you will be provided with self-paced on-site training, and structured hands-on experience, to aid in becoming a Subject Matter Expert on a variety of aircraft systems – which can range anywhere from onboard radar systems, to electronic jammers, onboard computing systems, radar and IR guided missiles, control systems, jet engines, satellite navigation/communication systems, and encrypted aircraft data networks.

You will also be provided with opportunities to develop new Data Analysis applications based on Machine Learning and Digital system performance models to aid in the automation and evaluation of these systems. An understanding of digital representations of alphanumeric data is an asset (MIL-STD-1553 data bus and MIL-STD-1760 weapon interface protocols). The applicant must be self-motivated, dependable, have outstanding written and oral communication skills, and exhibit excellent interpersonal/team participation skills.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Aircraft test configuration planning and records keeping
  • Writing and reviewing test plan documents
  • Assisting with test point selection, execution planning, and status tracking for specific test missions
  • Assisting with test mission resource selections and coordination (targets, ranges, airspace, stores, weapons, etc)
  • Assisting with the creation of test mission flight profiles and test pass setup requirements
  • Assisting with short and long range flight test mission schedule coordination
  • Writing and reviewing test mission aircrew flight cards
  • Attending and providing technical information at aircrew pre/post mission briefings
  • Providing real-time technical support during test flights from a ground control facility
  • Writing and submitting test item Problem Reports and participating in adjudication reviews/meetings
  • Writing various technical results reports to document test results and program activities
  • Performing on-aircraft system checkouts, mission media prep, and media loading/downloading
  • Performing on-aircraft troubleshooting of experimental systems for anomaly investigations and resolution
  • Performing post-mission data analysis and test point scoring
  • Performing/supporting Test Program Management tasks: hosting meetings, milestone tracking, equipment tracking, coordinating test activities, creating and briefing weekly test execution metrics, etc
  • Reporting program execution status at weekly Customer meetings and generating program tracking metrics
  • Attendance and participation in Program Review meetings (ITT, PMR, TPWG; Road Map, Executive Reviews, etc.)
  • Attendance and participation in flight test review boards (CCB, ATR/SB, HRB, FTRR, etc.)
  • Reviewing and making inputs into Mission Planning and pre-mission Data Module programming (JMPS, DTM, DRMM systems)

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. Occasional off-site support for meetings and deployed flight testing will also be required (primarily to St. Louis, Holloman AFB, and Nellis AFB).

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry by June 2023

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Have or have held an active U.S. Security Clearance in the past 24 months
  • Highest level U.S. security clearance you currently hold or have held in the past 24 months

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
