The Jackson County Environmental Health Office is seeking an Environmental Health Manager. Primary responsibilities will be as follows:

• Directs environmental health program activities that provide technical assistance and regulatory interpretation of environmental health laws to other agencies and the public
• Directs subordinate supervisors and staff
• Plans, conducts, and coordinates compliance monitoring, inspections, audits, and enforcement activities
• Provides technical expertise and testimony regarding complex environmental health issues
• Responds to environmental health emergencies and episodes, and/or conducts assessments of impact
• Interviews, hires, direct, trains, evaluates the performance of, and when necessary, recommends discipline and/or discharge of employees

Job summary: Manages a program of regulatory review and enforcement in the area of environmental health. Assists in the development of policies and procedures in assigned area. Directs subordinate supervisors and staff.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in environmental sciences, biology, chemistry, geology, engineering (agricultural, chemical, civil, environmental, mechanical or sanitary) or a related field from an accredited college or university AND Four years of professional experience in environmental enforcement, environmental health, environmental monitoring, environmental protection, or environmental research.
Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience, and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis for a maximum of Two years non-managerial/supervisory experience.

Annual salary $66,000 plus, generous benefits include 13 paid holidays, annual and sick leave, health insurance, and retirement plans.
