Position is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental (70%) and safety (30%) regulatory requirements for aircraft engine repair and overhaul facilities. Some travel to other domestic locations is required. Position reports to the EHS Director/Manager and has no direct reports. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Not listed in order of importance. Other duties may be assigned.) 1. Must be thoroughly familiar with TCEQ waste, storm water, wastewater and emission tracking and reporting requirements. 2. Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental regulations and guidelines mandated by federal, state and local governments, including completing, maintaining and submitting accurate reports. 3. Responsible for administration of all Company environmental policies and procedures as well as conducting environmental compliance training for personnel. May need to help with updating/revising Health and Safety documents as well. 4. Ensure compliance with wastewater discharge requirements and ensure treatment system functions properly. 5. Monitor proposed environmental regulations and advise organization of potential impacts to compliance program and Operations. 6. Conduct EHS compliance audits and inspections to ensure compliance with applicable regulations. This may include travel to other domestic locations. 7. Coach/mentor Supervisors/Leads to develop their understanding of environmental issues and compliance with regulatory and company requirements. 8. Have knowledge of Safety and Environmental Management Systems such as ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 45001. 9. Good understanding of chemical hazard identification. Maintain web based chemical inventories and ensure Tier II reporting is accurate and completed per regulatory requirements. 10. Oversee management of hazardous, non-hazardous and industrial waste to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations in a safe and cost-efficient manner. 11. Ensure compliance with PBR air compliance, storm water, wastewater pre-treatment and SPCC regulations. 12. Maintain RCRA & DOT hazardous materials/waste certifications/ profiles. 13. Complete HazWOPR training and act as Spill Team Captain 14. Be able to operate forklift (training to be provided) (not mandatory) 15. Assist with Incident Investigations and Corrective Actions 16. Assist with hazard identification/reporting and participation in Safety Meetings. At times may be leading safety meetings. 17. Assist in providing EHS recommendations during changes in processes or introducing new processes. Education/Job Experience/Technical Knowledge Required: Formal Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Health and Safety or similar disciplines. Direct /Indirect Experience: Five to Ten (5-10) plus years of experience related to activities/responsibilities with significant familiarity with safety, environmental, risk management, governmental and management principles including the best professional practices in the required subject areas. Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft business applications, benefits, industrial safety/risk management software packages, or other HRIS systems/software. Qualifications: (Including Licenses and Certifications) - Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels within the organization, vendors and governmental agencies. The ability to work with others, in a potentially adversarial environment, including all levels of staff, and vendors with opposing views to accept/approve plans, technical and project recommendations. - The demonstrated ability to develop clearly defined objectives, time schedules and provides functional direction. - High level professional demonstrated verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills. - Strong mathematical aptitude and analysis skills for researching, analyzing, and developing research and reports. - The ability to write, read, interpret and act on proper understanding of technical health/welfare or software system documents based on corporate legal applications, and Human Resources professional standards and philosophy.
