Job Summary:*
The Feed Formulator is responsible for formulation of pullet and layer feed as well as organizing laboratory data, both from the company NIR lab as well as third-party labs.
Essential Job Functions:

• Manage formulation software for multiple feed mills including maintaining ingredient prices, nutrient levels, and diet specifications.
• Run least-cost optimization and transmit formulas to feed mills accurately and timely.
• Summarize and interpret laboratory results of ingredients and complete feed.
• Work in multiple software systems.
• Continually seek improvements in processes, develop efficiencies, and expand the use of existing and new software.
• Collaboration with feed milling team, ingredient purchasing, and accounting as an integral part of our egg production team.
• Occasional requests outside normal working hours to support feed milling operations.
• Other duties as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Detail oriented and analytical. Ability to take large amounts of data and summarize into actionable information.
• Proficient with MS Excel including writing and troubleshooting basic macros.
• Ability to manage complex situations through critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills.
• Ability to adapt effectively and work at a high level within a fast paced, continually changing, and demanding environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all constituencies, including employees, customers, suppliers, and regulatory agencies.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize multiple requests.

Education and Experience:

• Feed formulation or data science experience preferred.
• Relevant areas of study – Animal Science, Ag Business, Accounting, Mathematics, or related.

Travel: This is primarily an office job. Employee will be asked to periodically visit company feed mills and attend industry tradeshows, requiring overnight travel. Mills are in Ohio (2), Iowa (3), Washington (1), and Oregon (1).
Location: Preferred Ames, Iowa or company office in Sioux Center, Iowa; Johnstown, Ohio; or Canby, Oregon. Remote work arrangements may be considered.
