SP Murphy, Inc. is currently seeking to hire a Senior Field Engineer/Project Engineer to join our team. The Field Engineer’s role consists of working on-site, directing on-site functions, and reporting directly to project managers or site supervisors. The field engineer is responsible for project construction inspection and documentation controls of new construction and renovation projects. Must be able to provide support while driving the success of each project assigned to them under direct supervision of the project managers from concept to completion. This position will serve as the lead/support on-site field inspector of all activities related to the construction work and project documentation. We are looking for a field engineer to inspect infrastructure and conduct research on site in order to solve problems quickly.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Performs tasks related to all field engineering activities in a construction project or multiple concurrent construction task orders. The work location is determined by the project field assignment and involves a combination of office and work site visits.
  • Implements and utilizes an established file system and procedures, logs and tracks incoming daily progress reports originated by oneself or assigned field engineers, ensures that field work incorporates latest contractor submittals and is documented on as-built set of drawings, and checks that project payment quantities are consistent with project progress.
  • Prepares time and material changed work documentation and calculations.
  • Performs contract specification and drawing research for assigned field engineers if required.
  • Prepare and maintain schedules of detailed activities to accomplish procurement objectives within a specified time period for clients.
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans and specifications.
  • Conduct research and studies on site.
  • Resolve malfunctions or other crises when they arise in the field.
  • Experience relatable to Rail and Transit, and Design-Build construction projects is beneficial.

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field, or comparable work experience.
  • 5 years minimum experience of construction, procurement, construction management, or general contracting related experience in both facilities and railway construction preferred.
  • 5 years minimum experience in a field inspection -related role.
  • Previous experience as a field engineer or project engineer (Must Have)
  • Railway Experience (Construction Related)
  • Structural Engineering (Construction Related)
  • High level understanding of safety guidelines and practices.

Education and Experience

  • Basic understanding of building design and mechanical processes.
  • A keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent time management and organization.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with clients and internal team members to ensure projects are completed on time.
  • High Aptitude for Technical Skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork capabilities.
  • Advanced decision-making and problem-solving skill
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel ,Word, PowerPoint, Project)
  • 5 Years of Transportation Experience (Preferred)
