Primary Position Purpose:

Audits the policies and procedures of every department within the Pueblo Casinos against Pueblo of Pojoaque Gaming Commission Tribal Internal Controls to ensure regulatory compliance.

Primary Duties:

  • Performs Compliance audits of all required departments of the gaming operation
  • Evaluates the adequacy of internal controls and compliance with company policies and procedures by conducting interviews with all levels of personnel, examining transactions, documents, records and reports and observing procedures.
  • Communicates with department managers in determining areas requiring correction
  • Ensure that all departments are in compliance with the Pueblo of Pojoaque Gaming Commission Minimum Internal Controls
  • Follow up with department managers on corrective measure regarding any audit findings
  • Conduct audits in timely manner as required by the audit schedule
  • Ensure compliance with all tribal and federal laws and regulations related to gaming operations
  • Assist with investigations and respond to incidents when requested to do so by the Executive Director
  • Keep accurate, concise, legible, professional records and files
  • Maintains the highest level of professionalism with patrons, employees, and external business contacts.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Access and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Bally system a plus, but not required
  • Demonstrated excellent written and communication skillsHigh degree of attention to detail and excellent analytical skills required.
  • Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisory personnel, co-workers, and the general public
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and under deadlines dealing with multiple projects and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to interpret laws and regulations and implement compliance action plans
  • Must have proven knowledge of auditing standards, tribal internal controls, compliance with NIGC, MICS, the Tribal/State Gaming Compact, SICS, tribal laws, regulations and approved policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of accounting and auditing standards
  • Must possess the ability to adhere to the strictest levels of confidentiality and shall not disclose confidential information to any third party without written consent from the Gaming Commission Board or Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of internal audit experience and experience in the gaming industry preferred.
  • Have a valid New Mexico Driver’s License
  • Must pass a criminal background investigation and drug screen

Supervisory Controls:

Reports to Pueblo of Pojoaque Gaming Commission Executive Director

Physical Demands:/ Working Conditions

  • Must be able to move and work throughout the office area and properties including long distances. Must be able to sit at a desk/workstation for the duration of a shift. Will be subjected to a smoke filled environment.
  • Typically the individual will work in an office environment. The noise level is usually moderate, but will escalate when located in a casino environment. Must be able to grasp, bend, lift and/or carry or otherwise move good weighing a minimum of 25 pounds on an intermittent basis.
  • Must have sufficient dexterity of hand in order to use office equipment including, but not limited to, computer keyboard, calculator, general office equipment, and telephone.

Job Related Qualification Standards: (May obtain within first 6 months of employment)

  • Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors
  • Member of the NMIGA Audit Chapter
  • Notary Public
  • Certified by Redwood Toxicology Lab to perform on-site Drug Testing and Alcohol testing
  • Fingerprint certified both electronically and manual

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 per hour
