Heavy Mechanic

Reports to: Operations Manager

Salary Range: $50k-85k Per Year

Purpose and Description:

We are seeking a knowledgeable, hardworking mechanic to join our Executive Landscaping team. We are seeking top notch mechanics with experience in repairing Heavy Equipment and/or Truck Diesel Trucks with the ability to work productively within a team environment. Strong organization, documentation of maintenance records, and prioritization of maintenance budgets is vital to this position.

Responsibilities/Duties:

• Inspect machines for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions using testing equipment to determine the extent of repair required
• Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems using hand and power tools
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets customers’ satisfactions
• Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on machines
• Service attachments and working tools such as blades, hammers, winches, etc.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand; talk or hear, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
• The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock.
• The noise level in the work environment is moderately loud
• Position requires working long hours, which may include evenings and/ or weekends, as well as seasonal work.
• Be able to accurately conduct Federal Annual DOT inspections.

Desired Characteristics:

• Proficient knowledge of mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in the repair of landscape and turf equipment
• 10+ years of experience performing service repairs

Tools and Equipment Used:

• Pickup truck; turf care and landscaping equipment, including tractors, mowers, airlifter, chain saw, edgers, weed trimmers, electronic motors, pumps, sprinklers, irrigation systems; miscellaneous hand and power tools for turf maintenance.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years’ experience with heavy duty trucks & equipment (mixers a plus)
• Diagnose and repair utilizing current technology
• Familiar with Cat/Cummings and other diesel engines
• Experience maintaining different kinds of breaks (normal, air breaks, etc.)
• Experience with hydraulic systems
• Clean driving record
• Valid CDL
• Ability to work well with existing team
• Ability to manage time effectively
• Break Certification
• Inspection Certification
• Federal/Annual Certification

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $50,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
