Position Title: Human Resources Manager

Position Overview

The HR Manager is responsible for daily operations of the human resources department. Their duties include hiring personnel, managing the recruitment, hiring and onboarding procedures for other company employees and coordinating with members of their department to provide support to company employees regarding personal and professional incidents.


Location

This position is based at NewSchool’s campus in Downtown San Diego, California.


Responsibilities

· Ensuring employees follow all policies and procedures at NewSchool of Architecture and Design.
· Assessing reports provided by the HR team, team leaders and operations managers to determine employee performance and training needs.
· Lead on development and administering professional development training in collaboration with department leads to ensure ongoing development of new NewSchool managers and staff members.
· Suggesting changes in policies and procedures based on employee and company needs.
· Demonstrate proficiency of job duties and processes within the first 3 months of employment.
· Oversee and manage hourly employees time cards accordingly.
· Researching compensation standards set by industry and governing bodies in order to create salary structures and administer employee benefits.
· Work effectively in a team environment in a collaborative manner to deliver strong results.
· Manage staff operational needs such as onboarding, parking assignments, and other operational details as assigned.
· Creating recruitment plans, interview schedules and evaluation standards in accordance with HR methodologies and labor laws.
· Commitment to excellence in contributing to a positive workplace and goal attainment.
· Oversee and manage variances with the ever changing CA labor laws for exempt employees to stay in compliance.
· Supervising all HR activities, communications, reports, requests and documents created and received.
· Attending interdepartmental meetings with other managers.
· Overseeing exit interviews and procedures.
· Maintain accurate employee benefits and compensation records including PTO.

· Experience with HRIS systems needed.
· Experience in the administration of Human Resources programs.
· Strong understanding of MS Office tools.
· Knowledge of the applicable employment law and practices.

Qualifications
· Bachelors degree in related field or substitution of degree with general experience on year for year basis.
· 5+ years of human resources experience with increasing responsibility.
· Higher Education background preferred.
· SHRM-SCP/CP and/or PHR preferred.
